Single Rider Line cheaters

I hope my DD doesn't notice anything like this next trip. She is a strict rule follower and doesn't get over people "cheating" easily if ever. She is still furious when we saw a dad and daughter jump the fast pass line at Splash. She told the cast member at merge point (they were not doing a second scan). She questioned them and they gave a completely convoluted excuse and she let them on and they got the front row seats my DD wanted. To this day she still is angry about it.

On RnR, each row holds 2 people. Each car has 2 rows. So each car, which is photographed individually, holds 4 people.

On the day we were there, they were stacking loading groups into the individual queues for each row. So for each row, you'd have 6 people, 3 groups of 2, in line for each individual row. As each empty coaster arrived, 2 people would load into each row, and the CMs would then place 2 more people into line for each row. As long as everything goes right, every person in that new group of 28 (I think it's 7 cars per coaster) will wind up loading at the same time. If you're a group of 4, you wind up in two rows next to each other, but load at the same time.

But if someone who is supposed to get into a car holds back, the rows of a loading group are now out of sync. So people who should be loading at the same time, will no longer be.

Think of it this way - the first group on is group A. 28 people, 14 groups of 2. The CMs can then stack up groups B and C, each consisting of 14 rows of 2. As long as everyone loads in the group they're supposed to, they could theoretically go all they way back to group Z, and everyone would stay in sync.

But someone in Group A doesn't get into the car when he's supposed to. Say that's row 7. He's got a Single Rider buddy in group B, back in row 13. So row 7 group A leaves with only one person in it. Now, the holdback guy in row 7 gets into the car when group B loads, and his buddy from row 13 walks over and gets in with him. So the rest of the people in row 7 are now out of sync - the people scheduled to get on with group B are now getting on in group C, the original group C are getting on with group D, while everyone else in the coaster gets on in their scheduled group. That's what happened to us. The CMs didn't plan to split us up, or refuse to let us sit together - instead, since the guy ahead of us didn't get on when he was supposed to, and we didn't notice what had happened in time, 2 of my daughters were in the car while me and my other daughter had to wait for the next one.

I freely admit that had I been watching things more carefully, I could have had my daughters let the people behind them go ahead, or just had them stay back and not get in the car until we were going to load too. Certainly if we ever return to Disney I'll be watching the line like a hawk for any rides with pictures. But that doesn't change the fact that those single riders cheated the system, and I lost out on a good picture because of it.
But you can make the necessary changes to realign your group or ask a Cast Member to do so for you.

Oh, I really hope I don't notice if this happens on our Nov trip!! I can just imagine how worked up I would get....ugh!!

Most of the time when we use single rider we are split up and that's fine. But sometimes there is total confusion at the merge point and DD and I will end up together or I can end up with another SR I was standing next too... Doesn't really matter to us we are just happy to be avoiding the lines.

One of my favorite things about the line jumping threads is the small minority of posters who freak out at the thought of people objecting to line jumping. "What's the big deal?" they always say, though never answering the question of why people jump the lines if waiting a little longer is no big deal. The more upset the poster, the more obvious it is that the poster is covering feelings of guilt and shame about their own line jumping habits -- they don't want to be called out, even indirectly.

You have quoted a perfect example of the mindset. If not for the mods, I expect it wouldn't have been much longer before we get the "if you complain to CMs about me line jumping I will assault you" phase of the debate.

Honestly to be fair I really don't care one way or another about someone jumping lines or many of the other issues that come up on here that get people pretty bent out of shape. Because of what I do for 80 hours a week or so it takes a lot to get me worked up on a holiday, and for the most part I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. By that I mean that if I see someone breaking a rule Im not spending my valuable vacation time worrying about it. Sometimes I don't get why others do get so worked up over things they see at Disney "just because" a "rule" is broken". In this case however, the op was directly impacted by someone else breaking a rule, and the response to his post that I commented on was seemingly attempting to invalidate his feelings. The op was well within his rights to have been offended by what happened, and therefore as the old adage goes(actually a play on the old adage), I may not have had the same reaction but, I'll defend to the death his right to have the reaction he did.

What we should learn from this is to pay attention to our own lines. If we are set to go with our group and someone changes around us we need to be on the ball and change with someone else so we're still in the same group.

This: Pay attention to your group so they can stay together. Mistakes get made and cheaters are well, cheaters.

Yes, I believe I said multiple times that had I noticed in time, I would have done so. But the RnR loading area is noisy and chaotic, and things move quickly. I will be sure in the future to assume that everyone else in line is a dirty, dirty cheater, and the CMs are too dumb to count to 11 without taking their shoes off.

Really? That's a little harsh all around.

Not really. Just getting a little grumpy that first I'm being questioned on how it could even happen, then being told I should have fixed the problem in the 5-10 seconds between when I saw what was happening and when the car left. But yes, if we ever return to Disney, I will watch things in line more closely.

The line cheating does grind my gears a little bit because ultimately, if you are in SR and you want to get seated with your party, you should have gotten in the standby line. Trying to use SR that way is effectively line cutting since you're using a system which I was under the impression is for filling those odd single seats that would otherwise be left open. While it may only increase my wait time in standby a little bit, I'm not really down for it. I don't mind standing in a long line, I do mind my wait time being extended because some people feel really entitled. We both paid a lot for this vacation; you aren't special, so don't be a jerk. --Sometimes two seats are open on an attraction next to each other so two people are pulled from SR that are technically part of the same part and they basically lucked out, that's fine and awesome. But expecting to get seated together or manipulating the situation isn't.

Sorry that happened OP. :( I am usually, at most, a 3 person party and on my most recent trips it's just been me and DH. Luckily, we are extremely unlike to be split up by any sneaky people, lol. Last trip we actually got pulled ahead a lot from the standby line on rides with no single rider to fill the random two open spots.

Incidentally, has anyone noticed how garbage the tram loading system can be in the MK parking lot sometimes? Last time, DH and I caught the third tram which normally, would have been fine. But!: we should have been on the second since after the first one left, DH and I were at the front of one of the lines. When the third one came, the crowd from behind us barreled and pushed past us and we had to wait for the next one since I wasn't aggressive enough (apparently). Boo, rude people, booooooo.

They will not allow guests in the single rider line to "wait" until something in their desired configuration comes up. You're supposed to go when you get to the front of the line, with whatever group you are placed with.

If by "configuration" you mean grouping of people, then, yes it is true that CMs don't allow that in SR. They DO, however, allow single riders to stand to the side and wait for a certain seat (ex: front row) if they wish. My son has done that several times in the SR line at RnR. But the CM does usually tell him that "it might be a while".

Last year, I did see a person in the Test Track single rider line attempt to move from where the CM had placed her and ride with her friend, but the CM caught it and moved her back.

And had a person become too afraid to get on the coaster and removed them self (possibly with a family member too), would they also be called names and be guilty of ruining your photo?

Add "or timorous coward" to my assumptions then.
