Hey everyone! I have a weird question I think… I got 3 single person reservations for the plaza dining package. My main reason is to be able to watch the electrical parade. Would I be able to take out the food and just get the pass? I’m not entirely sure how to handle this.

You end up paying the full price whether you eat the food or bin it, so you might want to just go ahead and get the food. There isn't really a big difference in a 3 person res or 3 single person reservations since it is CS and not reserved tables, you could all pick up food together and find a table to eat at as a group.

Unless I am misunderstanding the question!

What exactly are you asking? Your post is confusing.

Sorry would they allow me to take the food out without sitting to eat? The times are pretty spread out 1pm, 1:45pm, 2:45pm. I don’t think they would let us combine it? Worth a shot asking I guess.

The problem is more if they have to go boxes I think, and I doubt they do.

You collect the food on a tray and there's outside seating. I really can't see anyone stopping you from taking the tray outside and then packing the food to take with you. They likely won't give you boxes though.

So there are three of you but you couldn’t get the same dining time?
Maybe all show up at the earliest res and try to all check in

Or check in first thing in the morning and ask to all be seated at the same time for one of the time slots
Worth a try. Good luck!

I'm confused as to why this dining package even has reservations by time. It's a CS place. And it's never that busy. You should all just show up together at the earliest time and they should give you your food and vouchers.

They won't pack it to go. It's served on real plates with real silverware on trays. You can't go far with it. And you certainly don't want to pack the food up yourself and eat it later (hello food poisoning).

I arrived a little early for my reservation because a Cavalcade was coming through. They seriously made me wait outside at the stairs until my exact reservation time. Place was empty - 2 tables in outside seating, inside maybe half full.

I can't speak to Plaza Inn specifically, but Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta also uses real plates and real silverware and they're able to pack meals to go upon request. It's worth an ask for OP :confused3 . I know I've heard of people getting to go meals at Plaza Inn before to take home, but I don't know if they brought their own containers or if they were provided like Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta does.

Plaza Inn briefly packed up all the food and handed it to you in a paper bag. This was when the parks first reopened. It was such a hassle and created MASSIVE amounts of waste.

Last time I was there (June 14), I overheard someone asking for a box to take food to go, and they were told they didn't have anything, but could go over to Jolly Holiday and ask for packaging there. Not sure if that was "we are out of boxes right now" or "we don't offer boxes ever."

I recall that, but I didn't mention it since I know that was stopped being standard practice when they returned to using real plates again.

I still think it's worth an ask since other locations offer it within the resort. They may still have nothing on hand, but doesn't hurt to ask politely. Policies and stock on hand of supplies do change. Using real plates isn't a reason they wouldn't have to go boxes. But they might choose not to have them for other reasons.

The only thing I can think of is it's less work for them to clear plates than it is to deal with all the packaging trash. Trash piling up in cans has been an issue at the resort lately.

I could also see it being a space issue maybe? The to go boxes for the pasta are low profile. But would need bigger boxes for a meal from Plaza Inn. Which would also add to the trash if people are consuming in the parks. Combo issue?

I dunno. Each location seems to have its own rules. Even cup lid availability varies depending which QS one goes to.

True. The food packaging varies so much, even within the same location. Pizza Planet and Boardwalk Pizza sometimes have those triangle cardboard containers for pizza, and sometimes just put the slices on a too small plate. Sometimes Jolly Holiday packs the food up in plastic containers with lids, sometimes it's thrown in a cardboard box, and sometimes they hand it to you wrapped in paper or foil in a paper bag. There is no consistency.

Yep, can’t get the same time. I missed the 60 day mark and that was all I could find … still continuing to look, thanks! I will try to ask.
