Hi I was wondering if there are any single parents out there who have traveled with this age group? My daughters and I have gone to Disney many times, but this fall we may go without another adult with us. My concern is my DD3 won't be tall enough for many of the rides my 6 year old loves. How did you handle this. I am not comfortable with DD6 going on rides alone (and she wouldn't want to anyway). Also, my dd3 is all about 'big' kid rides and I don't want her to feel too left out.

Any advice?? :confused3 I would love to her from you.

I took DD 3 last year in Nov and she was able to ride almost all the rides, even Tower of Terror. She wanted to ride it 3 times!!! I think you'll be fine.

Hi twoprincesses.....

the only problem is my dd3 is only a little spit of a thing. She is only 26 pounds, but a real daredevil. I know that by the fall she still wont make the 40 in minimum on many of the 'bigger' kid rides. UGHHHHHH

I have taken my dd's as the solo adult since they were 2 and 4 and we have a blast every year during our girls only trip.

Our rule was always that if someone can't or really dosent want to ride someting nobody rides. There are soooo many rides, shows and attractions that are not height restricted or scary that you can fill your days and not even miss them. Just let your 6yo know ahead of time that this is the case and concentrate on what you can do. At 6 she will probably understand that the choice is a trip to disney without the big rides or not at all. FWIW, Disney requires a child to be 7 to ride alone so it's not an option for your older child anyway. We did fit 3 in a row on every ride when they were that age even the barnstormer (not any more) so that won't be a problem either.

Have fun

Last April I took my boys for DS 6th birthday. My other DS was 3. We had a great time and as tjmw2727 mentioned just plan ahead of time so your older child is not disapointed. We had a great time and did alot of things we never do when DH is with us. We did alot of the shows, played mini golf, etc. DS6 did ride Primeaval Whirl alone as he had finally made the height requirement. They never asked his age but I talked to the CM and she walked him up the line and then I waited at the exit. I could see the entire ride so I felt comfortable with this.

We are doing a mom and boys trip again in a few weeks and I can't wait. Have fun!

Thanks for responding. I did mention the same scenario to my dd6 about 'we all ride or no one rides' and she seemed somewhat okay, but said she hoped another adult could come with us so she could do some of the bigger rides, but she knows that that may not happen.

Every trip to disney is fun, and you are right....there are tons of other things to do!!!!

We just got home Wedensday from our trip. I took my 3, 5 and 7 year old without my dh. We had a ball!!! Believe me, no one was more scared than me, and many tried to discourage me, but i am so glad I tried it! There were a few rough patches (bathrooms, meltdowns, etc) but nothing different than if I was at the supermarket with all 3. It was just way more fun! None of my kids are big risk takers, so rides wasn't too big of an issue. What saved me was having the double stroller from the parks. It is a lot easier to keep track of everyone this way! We just paced ourselves and took turns doing what each of them wanted to do... that was the biggest challenge, since a 7 yr old boy really doesn't want to watch the Cinderella show more than once! I think you can do it! By te way, my DD3 and my DS5 both have some serious issues and we still made it work. Good luck and have fun! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :grouphug:  :cool1:

One thing I tried to do is find out all the height restrictions on the rides before I went. If there was something my son could not ride on, we walked right past it. He didn't even notice because we were always walking toward something else.
