Single or Double Stroller?

We have a WDW trip planned this May which will include me, my DW, DS age 6, and DD age 3. The last time we went to WDW was three years ago when the kiddos were much smaller. On that trip we rented a double stroller and used it a lot. With the kids being older now, especially my DS, me and my DW are in debate whether to rent a double again or just a single this time. She thinks its unnecessary to rent a double and we should just go for a single. But I think we should go ahaed and get the double that way my DS can rest when he chooses. Also with rain cover its a good way to get both out of the rain. It is a little bit more of a hassle lugging around the bigger stroller, but I think its worth the inconvenience. I appreciate any opinions and/or any of your personal experiences on this topic. Thanks in advance!!!

I would go with the single, but I never used a stroller after 4 for mine.

I think a stroller extends the life of your day in the park. I like the piece of mind in heavy crowds, kids always having a place to sit during a parade, and not lugging a sleeping child to the parking lot. We always arrive early enough to get one of the closest parking spaces so we never use the tram. We average 11 miles a day at MK. I highly recommend a double.

We have taken two trips with DSs, ages 1.5/3.5 then 2.5/4.5, and rented the double stroller both times. We are going next year, kids will be almost 3, 7, and 9 and I am thinking about getting a double again.
My not quite 3 yo will need a place to sit, obviously. The other seat can be used for one of the other kids when they get tired, or as a place to stash stuff for our party of 7. My middle kid has flat feet so he will likely need a rest more often than most kids his age, so that is a factor for us too.

I'd rent the double. You're going to be bringing a stroller either way, so you might as well have a spot for both kids. I rented a double for my 2 month old and 7 year old and the 7 year old used it quite a bit. It's also really nice to have a place for both kids to be when you need to get somewhere quickly, if it's raining, to have a seat for a parade/show and at closing when it's dark and crowded.

Single.

By 5, my older two kids were well past needing a stroller at Disney. My youngest has sensory issues and did need one at 5, but not at 6. Since you'll have a stroller anyway, you could always give your 6 year old a break from time to time if needed.

I had a 5 and 2.5 year old. I rented the double because I knew they'd both need to rest from time to time, and the way it is with them, it will be the same time. No fighting this way. It was also nice in crowd situations, they were corralled and in their own space.

I would do a double, just in case. Last time we went my girls were 4 & 6 (and we had a 2 year old) My 6 year old was fine most of the time, but usually by the late afternoon, she was TIRED. We were in the parks almost all day though, if you are the type that goes back to your room to rest or to the pool for several hours a day, that could be different. We are going this year (kids are 8, turning 7 while we are there, and turning 5 while we are there) and I am bringing my double. Even if the 7 year old doesn't use it, it is an option. And honestly, it is easier to keep track of them in busy crowds if they are in a stroller. I don't care if people thing they are too old. I am on vacation, I don't want to hear crying about tired legs the whole time.

We will be renting a double for our upcoming trip, worth the size issue so the older one can rest if they choose. Makes the happiest place on earth a little happier.

I would go with a double. I have a 5 year old and a 19 month old. We are going to WDW next month. We are bringing our double stroller. My 5 year old will probably walk much of the time, but it is nice to have a place for her to sit if she gets tired or during and after parades and fireworks. My thoughts are you are going to be dealing with a stroller anyway so why not just get the double.

Get the double- it's a pain and its bulky but worth it when the kids get tired. We're going in 2 weeks with DS4 and DD will turn 6- we don't have a stroller at home but at Disney we rent a double. The kids are exhausted at night- there's no way I'm carrying a tired 6 yr old out of the parks.

It's also easier to have both kids strapped in a stroller when the park is really crowded.

Also voting for the double. You don't want to have to do this every night.

Sooo much easier all round with a single! Less hassle navigating the crowds, in stores, and definitely on buses.

When our twins were 3, we got two single strollers because we knew that we would have to return to the hotel every day for naps if we wanted to make it out late, and we also knew the chances of either of our kids napping in a stroller were not great. We had 5 adults to 2 kids, which helped! We are going this summer at 5, and it's just DH and I with the two of them so we are getting a double stroller to make sure one of us can easily get them around if the other wants to go off on their own for a bit. Just some things to think about! Really, I bet you'll be fine either way.

We're in a similar situation. My boys are 8, 7 and 5 (but a tiny 5 year old). I'm hiring a double for our trip in September and plan on using it in the afternoons - I've scheduled breaks at the resort for every day - even though we haven't used a stroller at home for three years. I figure they'll be full of energy in the morning and willing to walk and walk, but come late afternoon I'm sure 2 out of 3 will be failing. We don't want to miss the night time entertainment so if a stroller helps keep everybody happy and rested, we'll do it. We also have no idea how jetlag will affect us or the kids. I have no chance of carrying either of the older two so that walk to the bus would be horrible with exhausted children.

We got the double on our last trip and our girls were 6, almost-4, and 1, and they ALL ended up using it. Most times it was my 1 and 3 1/2 year olds on it, but more than a handful of times our 6 year old climbed in to take a break from all the walking or just to sit while we waited for the parades to start. We rented a double City Mini and it was so easy to maneuver it around the crowds and to fold and unfold when getting on or off the bus. Definitely getting a double again next time we go.

Single. So much easier to deal with. By the time the 6 yo has had it for the day, the 4 yo is going to be exhausted, too.
