and we had a wonderful time. I built my days around what he would enjoy- meaning none of the big rides and lots of shows and playground time. We were there 2 full days and 2 half days...and he loved every minute of it.
For kids that age there is magic in things like riding the train around the MK...taking a loop on the monorail even if you don't have a reason to!
One warning, at that age kids are just beginning to get a grip on reality. On our first day we met Woody and Buzz (his favorites). The next day we saw Captain Hook and Jafar...he was fine. Wemet Mickey and friends. That went great.
Then we had dinner at the Crystal Palace. All was well until Pooh came out. My son totally freaked out, began sobbing, wanted to sit on my lap, etc. I found this odd because I'd rented a Pooh costume for his first birthday and he was fine with it then...and he'd never shown any fear of costumed characters.
When we finished dinner I asked him what the issue was. He calmly explained, "Don't you know, mom? Everyone else is just characters, but Pooh is REAL!" Ah, the mind of a preschooler!
Be prepared to deal with little unexpected quirks like that. Take a long enough break every day so you can grab a nap back at your hotel room.
In 2005 I took both boys, then ages 4 and 9, to
Disneyland, and again we had a great time. It was a little harder because while the younger one wanted to do Playhouse Disney and Small World, the older one thought those types of things were torture.
I'm looking forward to this trip. My older son will be almost 13...old enough that if the 7 year old wants to do something he doesn't, he can go get a soda or look at shops instead of having to be dragged along.
Sorry, I got off topic. What I'm saying is, look at the whole trip as magic. Don't stress about getting things done...toddlers don't work well on schedules. Do what you can and enjoy the heck out of your time!
BTW...I found the CMs to be very helpful to single moms. I was there on Mother's Day and several went out of their way to wish me a happy day...since it was obvious the 3 year old wouldn't be lavishing me with flowers and meals, I guess, lol! If you ever need help, just ask someone. I'd bet they will come to your rescue any time you need them!
