are single day passes....hoppers or are they one park only??

They are one park only. You can leave and return to that same park on the same day but you cannot park hop.

I believe that they are one park only, at both wdw and US... they really want you to buy a multi-day pass to get the 'hopper' facility.
If you don't use all the days, they never expire, so even if you don't go again for years, they will still be valid.
