Single Cruiser question

I have a friend who had a DCL cruise booked & recently cancelled because he is going thru a divorce now. He is contemplating re-booking alone & asked me if I know of anything special on the (3 or 4 day) itineraries have for singles. Also, he wanted to know what it would be like to be on the ship alone.

Although I once cruised as a single parent on another line, I have always cruised DCL with my husband & have never paid attention to anything regarding singles activities (if any) in the Navigators.

Any past singles cruisers have any info? I would imagine that marrieds selectively cruising alone without their spouses is another type of situation. Thank you.

There are a couple of singles lunches (just meeting for lunch with a Cast Member there) to get to know each other. THat's about the limit of singles activities....however, after 9 cruises as a single parent, I can say that I never felt out of place. I've met other singles sailing alone, single parents sailing with kids, etc....always plenty to do. One of the best features of DCL is the idea that everyone can do whatever appeals to them, so it's not unusual to find families sailing together, but people going their own directions once on the cruise.

I have booked as a single - no kids and had a great time. The crew members are wonderful if you take the time to talk to them and I was never made to feel the oddball. I found a group booking and since it was my first time alone (other time I was with my sister and her family) it gave me a sense of belonging I suppose. I didn't join these boards until after I booked. The crew member always spoke and tried to include me when they saw me sitting sonewhere alone. It was such a good time that I booked another cruise while on board.
