:D Hi, I know I read a thread about going solo to Palo's and the response seemed to be in favor of this. I am a single parent and considering doing Palo's after reading all the great reviews. I wanted suggestions on whether I would feel less uncomfortable doing the brunch or the dinner. I have heard good things about both. Also, is the bruch offered on all the cruises?

On our last cruise we met up with 2 other families from the DISboards at the terminal and spent some great times with them. One of them was a single mom and her son.

She went solo to Palo's for brunch, and said she'd done it for dinner in the past. We happened to be at the same brunch seating and she seemed to be enjoying herself quite a bit.

Hey Amy - if you're out there maybe you can comment more specifically.

Oh - brunch is on 7 day only.

I am also a single parent traveling with my DS in May. This will be our first cruise, so I can't speak from experience.
But, there are others traveling the same time that are trying to put together a Brunch or Dinner for our group - I suggest you check out the Cruise Meets section to see if there are others on your cruise that would be interested in doing the same.

I, personally, would not be inclined to go by myself, although MANY others have said they enjoyed it and didn't feel uncomfortable.

While I've never eaten alone at Palo, I have done so at many restaurants when travelling for business. I like to save the bulk of my per diem to eat at a nice restaurant. I actually kind of enjoy it. Bring a book, check out the view, strike up a conversation with the wait staff (who, at Palo, are really nice and eager to talk to you). I would definitely encourage you to go by yourself, even to do both brunch and dinner.

I do think you'll be made to feel uncomfortable at all, only as much as you allow yourself to be. People will not be pointing at you and saying, "look at that person eating alone!"

I think it would be absolutly fine to dine at Palo solo. But if youre not sure you'll feel comfortable go to the cruise meets and maybe you can find another single parent you might enjoy dining with. oops I think someone already suggested this.:o
