Anyone else watch this?

I'm liking the whole vocals only competition but it's moving pretty fast.

Mon, Tues and Wed, all with multi evictions by the judges then nothing until next monday.

i would have liked to have seen it for a couple of weeks - seems like a filler show but i like it.

My husband is an a capella singer and has been watching and reading his various message boards about The Singoff. It's like listening to police officers sitting around and analyzing crime shows! Those "in the know" are complaining about the way the sound is mixed (too much bass), the song choices, costuming, etc. Apparently they didn't let the groups choose their own songs. Maxx Factor, a woman's barbershop quartet, was told they couldn't do any barbershop songs. They're awesome when they do barbershop but their style doesn't translate as well into pop songs. FACE, the first group to be knocked out, is amazing. We saw them in a live a capella contest and bought their CD. If they had been allowed to sing their own material, they would have blown everyone else away. Plus, there was never any explanation of how those 8 groups were chosen to be on the show and how they were voted off. Was it up to the judges? The producers? Sony - who is giving the winner a recording contract? The public hasn't even been allowed to vote yet. We'll be interested to see how it turns out.

Almost every song, aand perhaps every song, the Bubs have done is available on Youtube. And that seemingly odd, out of left field assignment of Simon and Garfunkle/Bangles "Hazy Shade of Winter" . . . that's a song in their repertoire. It is a bit fishy.

But it's enjoyable entertainment and NBC spent next to nothing to fill eight hours of airtime.

So true...the Bubs and every other group were given songs they at least knew NOTA had never herd of the

song they were give and then were criticized for being out of their comfort level.

Did I miss an epiosode? I don't recall hearing hazy shade of winter. I saw the first two nights...was there a third?

PS..I don't give a rat's patoot if the show is rigged tighter than The Flying Dutchman's mast. It's totally entertaining and the singing is wonderful.

I liked maxx. The bubs are great abdu predict they will win

I also liked the girls. Can't remember their name. The one with the fauxhawk. I just wish the had spread it out more. After all they have been airing reruns for 2 weeks now

I hadn't watched it and now I see I don't need to. Those are the kinds of things that would bug me, too. It sounds like the age-old battle between art and commercialism and art lost.

I thought it was SoCal that sang that song, not the Bubs.

I agree and will go even farther to say that it seems to be weighted in the "Bubs" favor. If they aren't choosing their own songs than they are being given songs that are a very easy fit for them.

Which is to say, that "Rehab" and "Love Story" were out of Maxx Factor's usual range, but "Sailing Away" and "Magical Mystery Tour" seemed to be a short reach for the "Bubs".

It was. The Bubs' judge's pick was Sweet Caroline.

I've been enjoying the show as well. I'm an a capella singer (among other styles) and have really enjoyed the exposure this style of music is being given with the show!

I've not agreed with some of the critsism though. There have been a few performances where I've noticed major issues with the lead vocals or in group modulations where they would go very sharp or flat and it was NEVER mentioned...but that's probably just me being really picky.

Overall I love the show and the fact that Ben Folds is a judge makes it a winner for me!

The fact that Maxx Factor made it as far as they did despite the catalogue of music not being in their favor speaks volumes to their ability.
