Since when did "underwear" become a funny word?

I am thankful that I have yet to deal with more unpleasant words, but DD6 is driving me nuts with "underwear." Apparently, the kids in her kindergarten class last year decided that it was a funny word. Now, if she is helping with laundry or getting dressed and happens to see a pair, she starts chanting "underwear" and laughing. It didn't take long for DD3 to decide this was a great joke/game and to join in.

What do you think?
a-Harmless and I should ignore it?
b-Annoying and worth a time-out?
c-My own problem and I should invest in ear plugs?

Thanks,
Peggy

Sorry, but you asked --

Definitely "C"

well... it could be worse!!!:earseek:

I go with A and C...I wish underwear was all my kids thought was funny!

Hey, what's under there?...:p

The only time I think underwear is funny is how I think of it connotatively.;) Bloomers is a funny word to me.:teeth: Then again, some undies do have flowers on them.:p

I vote A or C. The less you say about it, the sooner they will forget and move on to bigger and better words to use to embarass you in public.

C. It's probably just a phrase. Soon they'll be on a new word.

Underwear, underwear, underwear, underwear, underwear, underwear, underwear underwear, underwear, underwear ... :p Sorry I had to do it. :)

Saying any word over and over makes it sound funny.

A or C

I find "underpants" to be much more entertaining. I also like to say "PAHNtees" (you'd have to hear the accent), even when referring to men's underwear. Anything to get a giggle. Your daughter and I should hang. :p

A&C. My kids saw an episode of Boy Meets World and Cory said Underwear real funny and so my little son decided he would say it like that. He used this word for about 2 weeks and then forgot about it. We loved hearing him say it, it was funny. Kids are only young once, just because it bothers you doesn't make it wrong. Enjoy them and say underwear with them, laughter is one of the best things in the world.

At the end of the day find the funniest thing that happened that day and laugh about it. If nothing funny happened laugh anyway.

I'm going to be sexist here, but my experience tells me that boys find this sort of thing to be even funnier than girls. Odds are your girls will outgrow this fairly soon - wish I could say the same for my boys! With any luck your daughters will never dance around with their underwear on their heads as if it's the most hilarious, clever thing anyone ever though of.

I guess you don't know about Captain underpants...

Fun Fact: Piqua, Ohio has an "Underwear Festival" every year!

LOL, I thought of Captain Underpants too!
Ignore it...this too shall pass!;)

My thanks to everyone for adding perspective! I will follow the advice given and try to enjoy the playful laughter rather than letting it get on my nerves. DD3 has already discovered the trick of wearing underwear on her head. I must admit, it cracked me up.
