resorts? We are going to CSR from Apr 26 til May 4. The whole reason for staying at the CSR was because of the Dig Site. My children are 3 and 10 and we have never stayed at the CSR. That being said do I switch my resort because the slide will be closed or it won't make much of a difference? I am freaking out about this since this is going to be our first stay at this resort. Any help would be appreciated!~

I was told that they moved the slide to a different pool. Not sure I believe everything the CMs say..so you might want to confirm this!

When did all this happen? I was under the impression that nothing was going to be happening at the Dig Site for a while

How could they move the slide to a different pool---it is huge and built around the pool? I believe the other pool would be too small to accomodate it.

I was told by two different CM's today that the pool is closing, not just the slide. But Buzz is actually there and he heard the slide and playground are closing. It probably doesn't matter much for us if it is the whole pool or just the slide - the kids would be very disappointed if the slide was closed, and my little one would want to be on the playground. We switched our reservations, but it was very disappointing to have to do it! I'd rather be at CSR!

I called for the 2nd time today and they said just the slide. There is nothing about the pool or playground. Where did Buzz say that the playground was closing?:confused3

Not the pool, just the Jaguar Slide. I just confirmed this with my Small World TA and two different CMs at WDW. The slide will be closed for refurbishment from 3/31 - 4/30, but the actual pool will remain open. I didn't hear anything about the playground, but then again I didn't ask about it, either.

Well, this came out of nowhere..... The whole reason for going to CSR was the hype about the pool. My kids were in the POR pool every day on our last trip two years ago. The CBR pool closing was announced months and months ahead of time. I wonder why this just came out yesterday. :sad2:

We agree!! I just switched our ressie to POR. Not sure if I did the right thing.:confused3
We were really looking forward to CSR.

People, it's an awesome resort with or without the Dig Site. There are quiet pools all around the resort you can swim at.

Yes, it is, and we love it. However, my kids were most excited about the slide when I showed them the pictures of the pool. For us, unfortunately it is a deal-breaker. For you, maybe not. We live at the beach and the kids swim all summer there and at the neighborhood pool, but they rarely get to go down a slide into a pool. That is definitely a vacation activity for us, and it is important to them. I hated to change our reservations, but if I wanted a pool without a slide I would have booked a value resort. I'm sure the kids would still have a wonderful time at CSR, but I think they will have a better time at a resort with a slide. It's just a personal priority for the length of our trip and the time of year - sometimes it wouldn't matter to us, this time it does. Doesn't take anything away from CSR as a wonderful resort - it just doesn't work for us this time.

If the slide is of #1 importance (which I know it can be for kids) then I think POR is your best bet. The 10 year old may be bored with the one at POFQ and the main pool at CBR is closed. Have fun no matter where you stay.:wizard:

If you decide to stick with CSR, you could always visit a water park.:goodvibes

But, if I wanted to stay a resort with no slide, I could save money and stay at a value.
Plus, if the pool does close down, we would not be able to be near the hottub and pool at the same time and the pool bar. It is vacation.
I am not sure why they did this just 5 weeks before the closing.
I called today to find out my options, we are going Mar. 30-April 4th.
I was told all deluxes are booked so we can't upgrade. We would pay the difference. We can move to POFQ or PORS but it will cost us more because we now have AAA rate, but that is not available now. The CM was a little hateful on top of it.
He said "it should not make difference to your trip" and "there are more important things to worry about" and "there is nothing I can do about it"
I am not sure what we are going to do, but this has is ruining my trip and I am not even there yet.

We upgraded to Old Key West. The part that makes me sad is that I would love to have booked AKL but was trying to save the money. If they had announced the slide (or pool if it is that) closing sooner, I would have switched to AKL, but now it is booked our week. I don't really mind spending the money, but I would have liked to have had some more notice to have a few more choices. I have called several times in the past month, once the rehab was first reported here. All the CMs kept telling me I was confusing CSR with CBR. I'm sure Disney knew about the rehab when the rumors first started - the information had to come from somewhere.

One word of warning - when I called to switch, the CM said she had a popup with a special "burgundy rate" (whatever that means) at SSR. She said it was a special for $315 per night for a studio. I told her that $315 was rack rate during our week, and she insisted it was a special rate. I almost hung up and called another CM, then she said "Oh, you're right - it is the regular price." I didn't appreciate her trying to get me to think I was getting such a great deal.

Thanks for the warning. I think we are switching to POFQ. I have never stayed there, so I guess we will try it.
Even with it just being the slide, they will be working on it and I don't want our pool time disrupted.
