Yankeeslover- Did you try calling to see if there was a pin attached to your name? I totally miss FD by 1 stinkin week, but I still have a discount code that they applied to my rooms. Call- you never know!!:tink: -theres some dust for ya!

I'm in the same boat! Have never travelled to WDW without a discount. Called and had no PIN either. We are going Aug. 17-24, I'm hopeful that as it gets closer more discounts will be released.

I definitely agree here. You should call because you never know. We originally booked the 3rd week in August with a 30% off pin code that we had received. We then had to change our dates to the 2nd week in August (I knew there was pretty much ZERO chance we'd ever get FD that early). I called last week to see if I had anything better than my 30% code and the CM ended up giving me a 35% pin code which ended up saving us close to another $200...not quite FD but after I did my math, it's like we're only paying $300+ for a week of the regular dining plan for 4 adults - I"LL TAKE IT!!!

I too would love some dixie dust sprinkled on this 40th bday celebration. We are leaving Aug 6 for 10 days and it appears that I'm still waiting with fingers crossed. One question for those of you who have called... what did you say specifically to the CM? I've called and so has my husband. I love hearing have a magical day to close the call but they have not been very helpful in locating a discount of any type. Suggestions?

I was able to save on park tickets by signing my kids up for the Y.E.S program (8 day PHWP&M for $220.16 each). I then did the military room only discount with a split stay and put dining on the first 4 days so we could eat at our "favorites." I saved about $1000 (minus the money I'll have to spend to eat the last 4 days...) vs. a "package." :cool1:

Here's info on the Y.E.S program https://www.studentguest.com/yes/

I am also very surprised and disappointed that they aren't even including at least the third week of August for the current FD promo which should be released to the general public on Monday. This may cause a lot of people who are teachers or don't want to pull their kids from school to look elsewhere for deals. I am strongly considering doing a Y.E.S. program class or going through AAA for discounted park tickets and getting a condo at Windsor Hills or Wyndham Bonnett Creek. It looks like Disney is changing up how they are running their promos so a lot of people may end up changing how they do their Disney trips :)

Summer room discounts typically are released a bit later in the Spring. Hang in there, I would assume the Dates this year will run June 15 - August 24

I have said to the CRO "Could you, oh sweet CRO rep. PULEEZE check for a code attached to my name??" ;) OK, not that pathetic..but I just ask. Also, check your spam (not the mystery meat)....thats where I found my 30% off summer code.:thumbsup2

If you look at the past Free Dining discounts for the last 8 or 9 years, they have really only had free dining in mid-August 3 times, the rest of the years it has been the last part of August. Also, for the last 2 years they have offered a lot of free dining dates outside of the August/September time frame and I know a good bit of my teacher friends have been able to take advantage of those deals. I had some teacher friends who have booked on the last day of a Free Dining offer in mid-November and got free dinign for the whole week of Thanksgiving, which our district has off. Also, this year they had a number of March free dining dates and even included our school districts Spring Break vacation. I think almost every teacher we know is going with their family in a couple of weeks on that free dining promo. I'm not saying that every teacher can use every free dining offer, because they most certainly can't. But, it is possible. I don't know if your district has the week of Thanksgiving off, but they usually have a free dining offer up until the Thursday before Thanksgiving, so you may be able to book that deal and only have to take one day off. I know a lot of districts are different about personal days and such, but I do have a friend that is planning to try to do that this year and she teaches 4th grade. Anyway, sorry these dates didn't work for you this year.

I was hoping for free dining for our dates August 17-24-so disappointed that it is starting so late. Will there be any other summer discounts for these dates or will we have to pay full price?

oh I feel your pain  DH is suggesting we go somewhere else in FL since we have our airfare booked :scared1: so we're discussing an option of maybe renting a car to have some flexibility with dining &/or go to the beach a few days :sad2:

The dates don't work for us even if we changed our flights because I won't pull DS from the start of school.

Here's hoping we get some pixiedust:

a pin
resort discount
better dining dates!
Comeon disney, throw us Value II travelers a bone

I was referring to third week of August which to me is more towards the end of August; and since value season has traditionally began around mid August it seems the past free dining offers for Aug/Sept have usually included at least the third week of August. Out my way, our school districts don't get fall breaks, spring breaks (except for a few days before Easter), or the entire week of Thanksgiving off so August free dining was a great promotion for those out my way who don't want to or can't miss school; and considering the high/peak resort prices Thanksgiving week, even if we were to take advantage of trying to catch the tail end of a free dining offer the week before Thanksgiving by checking in on a Friday, the high/peak resort prices that begin that Saturday before Thanksgiving week would negate any money we would save with free dining if we went over Thanksgiving. The fact that they are offering free dining so late in August now compared to what they have offered over the past few years is a sign to me that Disney is changing up how they run their promotions or may in deed be scaling back on them; but thank you for your feedback though ;)

I'm confident that a general public room only discount will be offered for the rest of August. Now whether it's as good as the pins or will only be 25%, I don't really know ...

My sister has booked the third week in Aug too hoping that free dining would be released, but here's the thing. I subscribe to Touring Plans for the crowd calendars, and that week that she is going (Aug 18th -25th) is showing crowds of 6-9. The next week, when free dining starts, is like 2-4 days. Disney is already expecting pretty good crowds for that third week, so no real need to discount.

I hate ya'll can't take advantage of this year's free dining discounts. I know how much it means because we now take all of our trips around free dining dates, looking at these past free dining dates from Mousesavers, the August dates don't look that different from many of the past years discounts. Also, looking at these dates, to me it looks like they offered more Free Dining dates last year, and the beginning of this year, than ever before. I'm anxiously awaiting the October - December free dining dates:

Yep, I know it's not a guaranteed discount and that it's not their fault that the dates offered don't accommodate our needs, which is why I've come to accept that there are other great deals out there to be had and if we can't get the kind of deal that makes it possible for us to stay onsite then it won't be any less of a magical vacation for us to stay elsewhere. I no longer want to feel dependant on free dining in order for us to be able to stay at a Disney resort without spending above and beyond what is practical for us to spend for a vacation. So while I was indeed disappointed initially, I've come to accept that these promos are just that - promos; and if we can snag one great, and if not we have to be happy with exploring other options.:)

KEEP calling! I called for approx a month--sometimes 2-3 times aday. A few weeks ago I called Monday AM (just called Sunday PM & nothing) & wahla I had a FD pin for the beginning of August. I have NO idea how the night before I had nothing & first thing in the AM I did.. Who knows, but Im not complaining! :)

Good Luck & DON'T give up!

Did you already have any reservations? We're going early Aug. I've been calling every few days or so I amped it up this weekend. Really hoping for FD but I'm wondering if I jinxed myself already booking a room only :confused3 When I call, I say I'm looking to book for 10 days naming a different resort, they'll look up my info & say, "Oh, we see you're already booked a room only" to which I acknowledge & say, "Yes, but we're thinking about adding 3 days & rebooking at a mod & changing it to a package if there's a pin attached to our household

They're very nice about it, they'll go check & come back with the same sad news, nope, no pixie dust for us  I don't know if I can do this everyday, did you really call every single day? The constant no's are so discouraging :headache:
