Simpsons ride question

Dh and I are heading back to Universal/IOA for one day in September. I've had to promise dh that I'll do a lot of research, because our last visit there was somewhat of a disaster. We really liked many of the attractions, but dh has SEVERE motion sickness and the Hulk ride really did him in!!!! He was sick for the rest of the day, despite taking draminine. Just when he was starting to feel better, I took him on the Cat in the Hat (thinking this was a kiddie ride so he'd be fine....), but he just about lost his lunch. We had to go home then.

Therefore.........I need to do as much research as possible. Didn't the new Simpsons ride replace Back to the Future? Is it a simulator ride, or an actual moving ride? Does it compare to any other Universal or Disney ride? I'm trying to judge whether I think dh can handle it. Back to the Future was another nasty ride from his childhood that he still can't forget...... He can do most rollercoasters (i.e. Fire & Ice), but the Hulk was too much.

Any info on the Simpsons ride would be very much appreciated!!

It's a simulator ride like BTTF was but smoother. Personally, if the other rides make him sick then I believe the Simpsons will do him in.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be crossing this one off his list. :( At least the Mummy and Spiderman were okay. I wonder if the new Rip Ride Rocket will be as wild as the Hulk? Any thoughts? He was fine on Fire, Ice and the Mummy.

A simple search will find you pictures and videos of the Rip Ride Rocket in action, you can look and decide for yourself.

Here is a RRR simulation video to give you and idea. Fast forward to the 2:39 mark for a view of riding it.

I would not suggest this ride. DH suffers from motion sickness as well. He wears the patch, a prescription med from his MD. It seems to help, but motion simulators really do him in. He could barely stand after Back to the Future, and was ill the rest of the day. He can ride Dueling Dragons as well. Even Hulk is OK to ride once with the patch. But simulators like that will cause him to become a gooey, green thingy hurling slime like the exorcist.

If your DH has any simulator issues, I strongly suggest you skip this.

I rode all the rides Sunday with no problem until I got on the Simpsons. I was so sick afterwards that I could not ride any rides for the rest of the afternoon. Simpsons is the only ride at Universal that will do me that way.

I feel bad for those you can not ride The Simpsons Ride - as this was my favorit in US.:thumbsup2

I like it also but I sit through parts of it and think of the same jolts and motions in BTTF. I wonder how much of the actual simulator was changed and not just the video you see while you are on it. I get the same feelings when I do that other simulator (Jimmy Neutron) that used to be the Jetsons/Yogi Bear ride.

Has he tried Star Tours @ MGM/Hollywood Studios? Some of the movements are very similar but much smoother.

Stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this ride with your husband.. it will ruin his day!!!

I'm a little bit concerned about this ride also. I'm a chicken. I can ride Star Tours, the whimpy side of Mission Space, old hanna barbera ride, lower and middle row of Soarin' and have just graduated to Thunder Mountain RR (I know- not a simulator ride but it shows my level of chickenness). Do you think I will be able to handle this one or any of the simulator rides at US/IOA. I haven't been to US/IOA in YEARS and we are going this fall.
