I have mixed feelings. We've had many wonderful vacations over the last 3 years with our family which is why we purchased in the first place. I'm way excited to finally have DVC at the Grand Californian since we spend more time at DLR than WDW. I'm not thrilled with the change from II to RCI as once in a while I'd like to go somewhere else, but I don't feel the RCI resorts are comparable to DVC, Marriott's or Westin's. We've only been members for 3 years and there have been many changes during this time so it is hard to see where this is all going.

The one change I was not happy with is the $95 fee to stay at a non-DVC WDW resort. I sometimes book 1 night as an add-on to a business trip, it's usually last minute so DVC rooms are not available. For example, I stayed at POFQ one time on a Sunday night in October, it was 18 points (this was before the fee). That's double the OKW or SSR studio points then they want to hit me with $95 also?

I agree! I am not only unhappy with this change, but the way DVC explained it as a "streamlined, easier way to book non DVC resorts" What? All they did was charge members an additional $95. I can't speak for everyone, but please, DVC, don't attempt to make things easier for me! It seems to always cost us extra $$.

I'm still smiling over that link you sent, tjkraz! There really are others in the DVC that I belong to!

With all due respect, it's hard to put any value in a survey like this. Polling a specific audience like this is going to return a very biased result which is not indicative of the membership as a whole.

...

I think we online denizens (yes, I include myself) live in our own little bubbles and obsess over things that are of no concern to the vast majority of members. I also think that many are quick to dismiss comments from DVC like "members requested a simplified booking system" or "members requested lower-cost weekends" or "members requested simplified banking guidelines" when, in fact, those statements are VERY accurate.

The survey may give you a good idea of how DISBoards members feel--at least those who are willing to vote--but I can guarantee that the results would be vastly different if they included the tens-of-thousands of members who do not frequent Disney message boards.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree.

But it's fun anyway...

I voted less satisfied only because I'm not really happy about how DVC has communicated the recent changes and not given members any buffer time to adjust (both mentally and physically by modifying plans). By definition of our booking rules, most members plan their vacations 7-11 mo out (or even further) and to announce changes pretty much 'effective immediately' seems out of line with what they expect their customer profile to be.
That said, I did read that program changes used to only be communicated via snail mail, so maybe the current situation is an improvement!

The benefit of Disney is that I know once I arrive onsite I'll forget about all planning stresses and will enjoy the magic, knowing I can stop and smell the roses because of my "best kept secret"....that I'll be back again in the near future for another wonderful yet different experience...

Originally my post was going to look something like JimMIA stated, so since he stated it so well, I won't repeat it!

Here is a more interesting link since DVC being adjacent to WDW certainly creates a built in advantage. The trend certainly is not up over the long term.

I know dis is not representitive ove DVC members as a whole but less than 10% believe the changes have incresed customer satifaction for them as the cahnges were intended (or at leat proported) by management to is much more dismal than even I would have expected.

I said no change, but in truth now that I think about it..
Some of the changes aimed at cutting down on the rental business have actually made me happier.

The only one that made me mad was the plastic cups and they fixed that! The others have not really impacted me. I have had no real issue with reservations. Waitlist changes I can't see impacting me. And lower weekend points may help! Free internet's great. I work while at Disney so I use that!

The reporting average is 90.0 percent and DVC has met or exceeded that 6 of the last 8 reporting periods. That suggests to me that members remain satisfied with the product.

I fully expect the numbers to dip in the first full reporting period after this announcement. But then again we Internet folk got pretty worked-up over the $95 fees, transfer limits, studio glassware and the booking changes, and none of those caused a blip in overall member satisfaction. :confused3

We're all fickle and I find the results to be no surprise given the timing of the poll. Post similar polls every 3-4 months and you will get very different responses.

The single biggest complaint here regarding the reallocation seems to be communications. Most members do not read about policy changes while injecting every word with their own cynicism and bias--they will simply absorb the changes, determine how it impacts their ownership, and move forward. Most members will base their degree of satisfaction on something tangible rather than searching for hidden agendas.

I will try to remember and run it again, I book marked the link I found so I will be watching that also.
