Simple P/S Camera Needed

I'm hoping you all can help me! I want a simple P/S camera that will take good pics at night. I just came back from NY and my outside at night pics in front of the tree didn't come out at all. When I use my camera (a polaroid) in the dark I must hold it ABSOLUTELY STILL (which is impossible w/o a tripod, which I don't want!) and then it will flash.

I don't need ANYTHING fancy. I take pics of my dog and us on vacation - that's it! But I do need something that I can use at night...

That thread should help.

Also, you will not find a p&s that works well in low light without a tripod. For what it is worth, if the light is really low, you even need one for a DSLR.
