We were thinking last night that the guest judges are "auditioning" for his spot. I do agree that it will probably be someone more in the talent search/recording industry vs a performer. They need SOMEONE that knows what they are talking about on the show.

I totally agree also. I have been a die hard fan, never missed a single show. But without Simon, I don't think they should continue. He is a major part of what makes the show enjoyable, and yes, is the honest one who keeps it real.

Simon is bringing X Factor to the US...I won't be surprised AT ALL if American Idol attempts 1 season without him and then is cancelled for lack of ratings. Unless those 2 shows run at completely different times/seasons I don't see American Idol staying around for long...

Season 1 of American Idol ran June to September, so perhaps that's what they'll go back to, putting American Idol post-Simon over the summer, to keep it from conflicting with the new series.

a record producer or music publisher with the ability to put a period at the end of her sentences and not feel the need to lower her credibility by attempting to compete with teenagers and children by singing the songs herself or donning a bikini....

I really don't think anyone can replace Simon. I am in the camp the show has had its run for me and I doubt I will watch once he is gone.

It won't be the same, of course. The question is whether it really needs to be the same.

True...but I think that his 'personality' is part of what makes the show what it is. Of course, I think Ellen is a wierd choice for a judge too.(although I love her!!) I guess only time will tell. I do think the replacement needs to be sharp tongued though--can't be all sweet and gooey.
