Similar to sharing a room with toddlers....DVC?

DH and I are planning on staying at the BC with our 16 month twins this October, but now I'm wondering about renting points to stay at BCV. My concern is that the kids won't sleep in a strange room and they'll end up in our bedroom anyway. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions. Should we stick with BC or give a 1 BR at BCV a try? Thanks!

I'd imagine that renting points for a studio would be cheaper and more space, and that a one bedroom would be comparable in price. Check a points chart or a points calculator to see. If you can swing the rental, I'd do it.

It may be difficult to get BCV for October at this point, it's a very popular time for the DVC Epcot resorts because of the Food and Wine Festival. You might ask about room layouts on the DVC Boards and see if you think it would be better for your family...

Simply get a one bedroom villa. The babies will be sleeping in the same room with you, but you have that bedroom door and living room to stay up in while they nap or go to be early. We stayed in a 1 bedroom when our son was 11 mos old and that bedroom door was worth every single penny! Plus you will have the kitchen for all your baby needs.

A normal room in BC will be bigger then a studio at BCV. BCV studio will have a full size bed and a sleeper sofa and a mini kicthen area. We spend a lot of time in studios since we tend to do multiple trips and need to say points. It can get cramped, but we manage fine and love DVC.

One year our friends stayed at BC while we at BCV. Their room at BC was rather big, had a fridge in it, a lot of storage and a day bed in addition to the 2 queen beds. They had a lot more room then us in the studio. We moved to a one bedroom that trip (were in the studio for the weekend when the points were higher). My niece slept in the sleeper sofa, and my kids in the king size bed with us (or pack and play.) My kids like to be with us when they are not at home, so having their own room doesn't actually help that much when they are young.

I love DVC, but I don't think I would bother with renting points. Besides depending on when you do it, it might be more difficult to find room availability with points in a one bedroom then cash in a BC room. Oct is food and wine so BCV and BWV fills up fast with DVC members who go every year for it.

We always found the kids would never go to sleep if they could see us in the room. A 1 bedroom villa always worked for us. Although I would imagine a regular hotel room with a balcony would also work just fine.

My advice is NOT to rent a one bedroom. We did it for 5 nights and got HOOKED on having a separate room for the kids! Now we are DVC owners. Sigh.

Seriously, I'm trying to wean myself of the suite mentality. But it is just so hard to go back to one room. My girls just didn't fall asleep with us in the room at that age. I remember one vacation when DH and I spent every evening hiding on the balcony while DD fell asleep. Now, they are older and will fall asleep with us in the room ... but I'm kind of used to the space a one bedroom offers.

We've shared a room. Let me even go further than that...a bed. With DD at 2 and 3. First at the all stars room with 2 beds DH actually moved into the 2nd bed for that, and then in a studio a SSR. In the different place she needed to be layed down with to get her to sleep, and quite frankly at the end of the days at Disney...We had no problem going to bed at that time either.

Hi! It will be tricky getting the twins to sleep in the studio while they can see you and your husband. I would try and get the 1 bedroom. It will be worth the extra money! My husband and I have twins and we always get a 1 bedroom...it makes life much easier. Once the kids are asleep we can make all the noice we want and stay up late watching movies. It is nice to know we will not wake them up. Also, our kids go to bed at 7 or 8 which is too early for us. Good luck!

They will probably be so tired it would not matter what type of rm you get. If you get a rm w/ two beds they will still feel close to you since your right next to them. You could always fake them out. Let them fall asleep w/ you then move to the other bed once they are asleep,probably won't take long.LOL

I definitely vote for the 1BR villa.

Our first trip to disney, we shared a room with the kids. NEVER again!! Since then, we get a villa every time. I, however, do not have a timeshare but I book the villa on my own (I do not own DVC points). It is worth every penny for us and the added bonus is the washer/dryer. Not that I love to do laundry, but it comes in handy with kids.
