Just got back from 4 nights in a 3 bedroom lockout in the new Silver Points section at Silver Lakes Resort. In a nutshell it was great!

I highly recommend this site to anyone considering staying off-site at WDW. Our 3 bedroom was huge (much more than we actually needed) for the 4 of us and very nicely appointed (including large plasma screen). Common amenities (pool, game room, snack bar, etc.) were just fine. Can't ask for a better location - just out the back entrance of Animal Kingdom - which made getting around very easy.

Won the week at Sky Auction and it turned out to be the deal of the century! Even at twice the price it would have been a bargain in my opinion.

On Sky Auction did it list Silver Points or Silver Lake Resort? Did you know you would get a 3 bedroom? How many did it sleep? Was this close enough to return mid-day for a swim and nap? Thanks!

a 3 bedroom in the Silver Points section was the offer from SkyAuction. We could have comfortably slept 6 and stretched it to 10 if you used the sofa sleepers in each unit. We did indeed go back midday to nap/swim...worked great as it is literally 3 minutes from the entrance to the Animal Kingdom Lodge off of Osceola Parkway

I can't be exact, but if you use the back entrance from Silver Lake and go by Animal Kingdom, its about 10 minutes to MGM and MK

also how long is the drive to mgm or MK

Silver Lake is very convenient to all the parks, it will take a little bit longer to get to the MK since you have to park at the TTC, then take the monorail or boat over to the park....but it's not bad at all!

You were lucky to get it when you did. I haven't seen Silver Points section listed on Skyauction in a long time. You got a great deal. I don't see CPR now that's been renovated, either.

madge, we going to WDW and staying at the Silver Lake next week, what do you mean by "have to park at the TTC, then take the monorail or boat over to the park" ?

First time going to WDW so don't know all the abbreviations and ways to the park yet.
What and where is the TTC?
Do you need special pass to ride the monorail or boat over the park?

Thank you.

TTC stands for Ticket and Transportation Center, which is kind of like a hub of different types of Disney transportation. Just follow the signs to Magic Kingdom and they'll lead you to the TTC. From there, you can either take the Monorail or a boat to MK, no special passes needed. The boat ride is pretty, but can take longer then the Monorail. For a first-timer, I'd recommend taking the monorail in the morning when you're anxious to get there, but take the boat ride back and enjoy the view at the end of the day. Enjoy your trip!

:goodvibes How do make a watch list on skyauction? Do you have to pick a specific auction?

We have a 1 bedroom in the Silver Lake Silver Points (traded through RCI with our 1 bedroom condo at Hilton Head) and I'm wondering about the lockout unit. This is most likely what we'll have and I'm wondering how the size of just that one bedroom unit is. We usually get a 2 bedroom with our trade, but really wanted Silver Lake and a 2 bedroom never came up for our dates. There are only 3 of us so a one bedroom is fine, just wondering on the size and actual ammenities of that one bedroom (the locked off one). Thanks for your help.

I just returned from Silver Lake (the new building). I'd guess the one bedroom unit is about 1000 SF. Half of the unit is the combo kitchen / dining / living room. There is a fold out sofa in the living room and two chairs. The dining table seats four. The kitchen is smaller than the old units but was fine for us. There are dishes for four.

The master bedroom was cozy. The floor was carpeted (another good improvement) and the headboard and armoire look upscale. The bath had a smaller whirlpool tub than the old units. It was very comfortable. There is also a shower and the washer and dryer unit was enclosed in a closet (nice improvement). The bath and kitchen had pretty granite countertops.

The unit in the new building seemed smaller than the one bedroom units in the old building. I liked the decor better and felt the condo was more comfortable.

The screened porch only had a small end table and two chairs. All of the units were lockoffs. The first door was to a foyer that led to the one bedroom unit (G unit) and the hotel room (H unit).

We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.

Bearzabout, thanks so much for your quick review of the Points, one bedroom. We are staying in one over memorial day and I have been hungry for information! Thanks again for the info!
