Silver Lake recently?

Has anyone been in a 1BR at Silver Lake recently? I'm thinking about booking for our last minute trip this month. It seems REALLY close to WDW (basically at AKL) but I'm a little afraid that we might get the "D" type of unit which is much smaller than the other 1BRs.

We own a C/D at Silver Lake. I might suggest making sure that your listing has a washer/dryer in unit; D units don't have one so they would be ruled out. FWIW, also note there aren't a lot of D units in the resort. These are the very end units in the 3 buildings that have them, one per floor. So there is better chance of getting one of the other 1BR configurations.

And yes, it is only a couple of blocks to the AK parking lot, and easy access to rest of the parks as well.

Thanks! The listing says there are washers and dryers in some units. I contacted the seller and he said that the unit will be assigned at check-in. ETA: It also says that the bed is a queen bed, not a king if that makes a difference.

Silverlakeresort.com has the floor plans for all the units. We have been in every unit except the D unit and they all had king beds. I'm afraid the unit you would get with a queen is the D unit. At the right price, it may still be worth going, as long as you won't mind a small room. The fact that the D units vary from 358-507 square feet would scare me a bit also.

Also keep in mind that building 400 backs up to Sherbeth Rd and can be a bit noisy.

So really SLR is just using a lowest common denominator listing (Sheraton does the same thing). Basically, they use a single listing with the minimum standard in all rooms and then any "extras" seem like a bonus.

If you are renting from an owner, ask if they own in the "Silver Points" (bldgs. 700 and up) or older Silver Lake section. The D units are in the old section; if you are renting directly from an owner, you should at least be placed in their section.
