Sillybandz Warning!

I'm far from the perfect parent. Just giving my experience on what we have allowed our child to do. Sometimes folks give me their experiences on what they have done with their child and I either take it or leave it. No harm no foul.

I wasn't referring to you. I'm sorry if I offended:flower3:

:thumbsup2

The human race seems to be the only race where survival of the fittest has failed....:confused3

We don't let our daughter wear more than a 3 at a time and she can't wear them more than a few hours.

How do you keep track? Do you write down what time you put them on her so you can remove them when deemed appropriate? Just curious.

It's so funny that these are such a big hit and we haven't even heard of them up here. My daughter is in Grade 5 so she would be in the thick of it but she's never seen them either. I hope that it stays that way.

The only time she wears them is when we are out and about either shopping, movies or just plain family time. She doesn't wear them in school/bus/after school (they aren't allowed). She doesn't wear them at Gymnastics classes throughout the week and she doesn't wear them when she is home except for when we are out and about - which again is around 1-3 hours.

Saw this family on the news...they're from a town about an hour from here. I can't believe the stupidity in this. The kid had them layered on his arm. They were all different kinds of brands. Plus, when I sleep with a hair tie around my wrist, I wake up with it indented. I would never let a kid wear them to bed!

I guess for the record I should say that I don't understand this fad.

Remember snap bracelets in the early 90s? I guess it's not that different...

I am trying to come up with some kind of display for them now so he can see them. He has been told not to wear them since some of the bands are smaller than others and do cause some constriction.
Right now he has a zip lock bag of keepers and traders that he is allowed to carry when he visits his friends or trades in the yard.

DD8 and the other kids around here all wear them around their neck, on a lanyard w/ carabiner clip. They're easy to look thru & trade, and easy to get off.

On a side note, the kids are now into the silly bandz rings. (Although I think they're all generics & not actually Silly Bandz)

They have only started to come here. They are sold at Build a Bear for sure. Not sure about Walmart as well.

We are slow at getting things here , I never heard of those hampster toys either that were popular at Christmas in the States. Only saw them here maybe in April /May.

I use them as ponytail holders. I also have vacuumed up many many many silly bandz
