I confess I am not familiar with all things computer.
I bought a brother laser printer/fax/scanner black and white MFC 7220

I understood totally that it would print in black and white.
However, if I scan a pic the scan is black and white..is that right?
I have read the online help thing and I can get to their paperport soft scan program and can get the pic scanned, but where they say there should be a "color" button on screen there is none. my choices are black and white, grey and some other grey one

I am a bit frustrated as i can't share my disney pics with folks here as they are all scanning black and white :badpc:
To resolve this issue on my next trip I am bring my digital and a reg camera

meanwhile..is there hope or do all laser black and whites only scan that way?

If you want to scan often, you would be better off buying a dedicated scanner instead of a combo unit. It sounds like you model is designed with the typical business user in mind that would not use color.

I only spent around $35 on a Canon scanner that does a pretty good job.

Sometimes the manuals and online help things cover multiple models with differing capabilities and features.

I just checked the specs - that multifunction can only scan in B&W, sorry. ukcatfan's suggestion of picking up a cheap scanner is a good idea though.

Thanks for the help!
I do have a scanner on the other puter, will steal it and hook to the puter that has net access.
One way or the other I will find a way!
