Hi All,

We are leaving in a little over a month for our first DVC vacation. We have a 2 bedroom villa at BC. I have a couple of questions and they might be silly!:goodvibes

1. Do we need to bring toliet paper for the bathrooms. I'm sure there will be a roll there when we get there but is it stocked or do we need to bring some? when they do trash and towel service do they replace that?

2. I know it says dishwashing detergent is provided....about how many loads can you do with what they provide? (trying to figure out if we need more)

3. Is there dish detergent provided for washing dishes???

Thanks in advance! Have started making my packing and store list and am getting more excited by the day!

There will be TP and they should replace if necessary on T&T day. If you need more, call mousekeeping.

There will be a single use box of detergent. You may be able to get two loads out of it.

There will be a small bottle of dish washing soap and a package for use in the dishwasher.

You do not need to bring toilet paper. If you run out, just call housekeeping and someone will bring you more (No charge).

Even though you said dishwashing detergent, it sounds like you mean laundry detergent. That you do have to provide yourself, along with the softening agent, if you use one. You will find 1 single use box of TIDE when you check in. That should be replenished with the Trash & Towel service. We always bring our own.

3. Is there dish detergent provided for washing dishes???
Yes. If you run out of that, you may request more from housekeeping (no charge). You will also find a packet or two of detergent for the dishwasher and housekeeping will replace that as well if you need more.

Thanks in advance! Have started making my packing and store list and am getting more excited by the day!
If you plan to do any cooking in the unit, bring salt & sugar. No condiments are provided, although you will probably find a few packets of sugar near the coffee maker.

We also bring our own coffee & filters (flat-bottomed) for the coffee maker. You will get one packet of regular and one of decaf (combo coffee & filter), but I don't care for the taste.

Enjoy the trip!

I love planning for our trips. The things I have to bring. Spices in zip loc bags, zip loc bags, aluminum foil, shower cap, bar of soap (they provide samll ones), tea bags, iced tea mix in a zip loc bag, playing cards, coffee, filters and $$$$!!!!! Have a wonderful trip.

Thank you everyone!

so just so I'm clear.....I don't need to buy dish soap (like palmolive) or dishwasher detergent because they will replace that free of charge but I SHOULD bring my down washing maching dtgt (tide or whatever)??

thanks for the tips on salt/pepper/sugar. And cards! I didn't have them on my list but will put it all on asap!

Yes, you have it right, but I would not necessarily bring along detergent to wash clothes in. I'd buy it after you arrive. That is one of the big perks with the Owner's Locker. We leave full sized versions of hair care, face care, and laundry care in our OL so we don't have to bring it all with each trip. Oh, and we do the same with spices and other cooking supplies.

There's now that laundry detergent that comes in sheets, so you may want to try that. It's certainly easy to pack and you don't have to worry about spillage in your suitcase. :)

Diane--

What's an Owner's Locker???

There is a link to click on the top of this board that will provide all the information on OL.

It is a locker that is stored for you and brought to you resort when you arrive for a trip. You can keep items in there that you may need for your WDW trips and saves on packing and purchasing many things while you are on vacation. :)

sorry to hijack..has anyone used those "sheets" for washing clothes?? we are taking a trip in October and I would love to use them if they work well.

I just tried them and they work great in both the washer (HE front loader) and dryer. :laundy: Sending my son off to college with them next week--I found out that last year he didn't want to lug the big bottle to the laundry room in the basement and just used anything he could find laying around down there :scared1: Note: I have heard that they might leave spots on synthetic fabrics if the dryer heat is on high.

The best thing ever! It's a locker (tub) that you can store things in (ponchos, umbrellas, first aid items, on and on) that is delivered to you on the first day of your trip and picked up at the end of your trip. I love my OL, it has made packing and unpacking so much easier.

To clear up something-
Laundry detergent is provided; it's a single load's worth box of Tide.
Dish deterent is provided too, At OKW and SSR I believe it was a small sized refillable box of Cascade powder. At VWL there were two single use bags provided.
A small bottle of liquid dish deterent (Palmolive) is also provided

LOL about the toilet paper. It's not at all a silly question-DH always brings his own toilet paper at WDW and HHI. He's got a bit of a sensitive tush, I guess, and he's sure the TP at WDW is like sandpaper. However, at HHI, after several trips where he insisted on leaving the left-over TP there ("Maybe they'll take the hint!"), he was glad to see in 2008 that he didn't need his own TP, that HHI had finally "softened up". I suppose a roll of TP goes under the list of "the strangest thing you always pack for WDW".

so will they refill the cascade and palmolive if necessary at no charge??? I can't imagine doing 2 loads in the dishwasher but want to make sure! TIA!

Yes.

If you need more than the single load box of laundry detergent, you'll have to provide that yourself, though.

We got a trial pack (free), specifically to try them out so we'd know if they were any good, and whether we should buy some for our upcoming trip.

They worked GREAT. Throw it in with the wash, and then put it in the dryer along with the wet cloths. Washed the clothes very well, and worked great as a dryer sheet.

My ONE suggestion would be...if you're going to use them, you might want to think about bringing along a Stain Stick, or "Tide to Go" stick. While the sheets work great, the one drawback is they can't really be used as a "stain treater". Other than that....

We bought a pack of them and they're already packed and ready to go!
