Silly Questions on RO Discount

Hello! If we get a room only discount, if we add the dining plan, do we still get the discount? This will be our first time going without free dining (I have a conference in June), and are budgeting things out. My work will pay for the room (values are cheaper than the conference hotel), but we are thinking of adding the dining plan.

I don't think you can combine free dining with a Room Discount...Disney ain't that generous, sadly! I used a friend's CM discount on the rooms and did the dining "on the fly" and we actually ended up SAVING money. Plus, we weren't forced to eat dessert (you can't sub. apps). And if you don't eat dessert the dining plan is a waste of money, IMO. 3-5$ 2Xday for X amount of days adds up. On our trip in October we only spent about a 1,000$ on food for a family of 4 ADULTS. This included the Food and Wine Festival (something from EVERY booth). I believe the dining plan (the second one from the bottom - that includes one table dining service a day) would have cost us a few hundred dollars more.

Our overall cost was about 4,000$...this included 3 nights at POP and 3 at WL. It was fantastic and my dad was impressed how flawlessly it went from how I planned it.

I am pretty sure you can add the dining plan to a room only discount. You just have to pay for it.

Yes. You're room is charged the discount and you can just add whatever dining plan you want but that will be regular price.

Great! I'm glad to know that! Now I just have to hope they come out with a discount!

Actually, if you want to add a dining plan to a room-only discount, you will also need to add at least a 1-day park ticket and make it a package. You will retain the discount on the room, however.

Unless you have an annual pass, you can add the dining plan without another ticket (except free dining).

Absolutely, however, I was addressing the OP and she didn't mention anything about an Annual Pass so I just wanted to make sure she knew she would need to add tickets to include a Dining plan.

This is correct, but I wanted to add that if you book RO and want to add tickets and DDP, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.
