Silly question .. does breast milk storage classify as a medical reason for a fridge?

That's a good question...

When we stayed at WL in October 04, I asked for a fridge and was never charged for it. It's my understanding that fridges are now free, but you have to ask for one when you get there. I would ask your pediatrician to write a note and present it when you get there if needed. I would think that although it's not a medical need, it's certainly a right! (I'm an advocate for nursing, can you tell? ;) ).

Good luck and have a great trip!

I wouldn't think you would have any problem getting one for that reason. That's not the bad kind of word of mouth Disney would want.

Enjoy your trip and don't forget to use the babycare centers. I felt like they were quite accomodating to nursing mothers.

I would think so, but since the fridges are free at the Disney resorts it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure it is cold enough.

They're not free at the value resorts. But they are available, for $10/night, I think. They are available, for free, at the Mods and Deluxes.

I believe I heard that at Pop that there is a $10 a day charge for a fridge? That's why I'm hoping I can spare that expense but still pump some bottles to use at the parks.

They are $10 a day at Pop. I need one for my son's meds, and I was told it would be provided free of charge. I have heard that it is possible that this will be a tiny medication fridge, which i think could be too small for breast milk storage. I would call CRO and ask!

They might classify wanting a fridge for breast milk as a convenience rather than a medical necessity. Still, at $10 a day, the convenience would be well worth it!!

:flower:

I don't think you'll have a problem getting a fridge for that reason. Personally, I'd classify "must pump milk for baby who can't bf" as a medical reason, and "I prefer not to NIP" as a non-medical reason, but I suspect Disney doesn't inquire. ;)

I vaguely remember hearing about a woman who needed to pump for a baby who couldn't bf being able to store her pump in a (locked) fridge at one of the Baby Stations between pumping sessions.

Your little girl is adorable - I hope she has a great birthday!

Not a silly question imho!! Are you a part of Le Leche League? IF so, (or even if not, google for their main page) they will have info that will help you how to word to Disney that it is indeed a medical need!! Its been awhile, but tonight as I sit contemplating 20 years ago... (the birth of my first born) I was reminded of pumping, in particular at a Bears Game, while dh stayed home babysitting!! (dh is not a football fan!!) I also have 2 other children, and would reference LLL for the first 2,but my last now 8 dd, I did join, for moral support, and kinship!!)

Good Luck, and you know what's best!!! Call Disney, and be informed!!

Before the complimentary fridge in Mods and Deluxes, we needed a fridge for DD's meds at CR. We were given and not charged for a very small fridge (maybe would hold 1/2 gallon of milk) for her meds; I presume you would get a similar type fridge a POP. Having nursed (and pumped for) my DDs, the fridge we got would be fine for storing, but not freezing breastmilk.

All of you kids are adorbale! Have a great trip.
