Anybody used ME for just your luggage delivery? I am renting a car, would be REAL convenient to have just the bags picked up and delivered to the resort without taking the bus itself.

Anybody ever do this?

Sigh....

Disney's Magical Express transports PEOPLE between the airport and their respective Disney resorts. It is NOT a luggage delivery service. That's a perq provided to Guests who use Magical Express. Guests who do not ride the DME bus should NOT expect to get their luggage delivered. Sure, it may happen (an occasional bag whose owner's voucher was not scanned when boarding the bus, may still be placed on a truck), but that's an anamoly, not the norm.

I guess you could act like you are going to board the bus and at the last minute dodge the bus entrance.

Do the do a head count on the bus?

They scan your voucher as you board the bus. This alerts the system that the Guest connected with specifically-tagged bags has boarded the bus.

Instead of trying to beat the system, why not opt for some legitimate method of getting to Walt Disney World with one's luggage, including but not limited to:
Rent a car at the airport and bring your luggage with you
Take DME, then rent a car in the Walt Disney World area
Ship your stuff to the resort in advance, then get to WDW via any method you choose
Reserve a town car/limo, or take a taxi - any of which will bring your luggage in the same vehicle
Rent a car and buy all new stuff when you get there

I agree with Ronda. Quit trying to scam the system. There are ways it can be done, but if you rent a car, carry your baggage and leave the DME alone. If you take a taxi or car service let them transport your luggage. If you do something different don't tell the world about it. The DME luggage has been discussed a lot on these boards and for the most part no body really knows for sure how it works.

The resort check-in for luggage for participating airlines is available to anyone, regardless if they take DME. So you could have them take the luggage back to the airport for you.

What about this senerio, in August mine and my sisters family will be at WDW for 10 days. We are planing to rent a van for 7 of the 10 days. The plan is for me and my BIL to rent a van from the airport (so both of us can drive the van) and my sister to take the kids on DME to the resort. Will this be a problem for our luggage??

DME is not intended to be a 'luggage delivery service'. It is intended to get WDW resort guests to their resorts as efficiently as possible, with a side perk of not having to haul your luggage around the airport. It, at least some of us believe this to be true, was intended to keep the resort guests on-site, spending their cash within the confines of WDW...rather than traipsing off, over to Universal and eating/shopping there or at any other of Orlando's fine eateries.
So, if you want to rent a car, that's fine. But you can't count on DME delivering your bags if there is no one riding the bus. For those of you who wish to split up your parties, and have some ride the bus, while others go in a rental car, that will work just fine. Many do it this way.
