I'm making pot roast in the crockpot for dinner. I will be out at baseball/softball with my kids until 7. Can I boil the potatoes and just leave them in the hot water from about 4 until 7 and then just mash them when I get home? I want to be able to feed the kids asap when I get home.

I wouldn't. Whenever I have left potatoes sit after cooking, they seem to get gluey or paste like..

Why not make them and put them in a microwavable container and just nuke them when you get home?

Thanks! That's what I'll do. I don't make them in the crock b/c my kids love mashed potatoes with pot roast and roasted with roast beef:rotfl:
