We are going on a Carnival cruise, that my daughters competition team is dancing on. We are stopping in Playa Del Carman and Cozumel. I was wondering if ya'll bring sand toys with ya'll and if it was ok to dig around in the sand on the beaches or do they not let you. I know silly but I would like to know. Thanks !!

I'm not sure--but watch out for trash...

We went on a horseback excursion when we went on the Carnival Destiny cruise--the shoreline on our journey to the horses was quite littered. Nobody swimming or anything--so I don't know if it was just that part of the shoreline or if that is the status quo for all the beaches. This was 6 years ago.

Anybody know about the "swimmable" sections of Cozumel?

Does your ship go to Grand Cayman--that is an awesome place to do some digging!

We brought sand toys with us to all the beaches and had no problems with them! They were fun to use and we left them with some folks on our cruise who were local Floridians, so transporting them home wasn't an issue like it would have been for us!

Enjoy!

No, we aren't going to Grand Cayman. I'll watch out for the trash though. I know that the Disney cruise stops in Cozumel so that is why I asked here. Thanks for the replys.

We've been to Cozumel 4 times in the last 6-7 years and the beaches have all been fine. Keep in mind, most of the beaches you'll visit are 'tourist' beaches, so they are groomed and usually charge either an entry fee, charge for beach chairs and umbrellas or both. Can't speak specifically for the public beaches.

If it is an option, to not have to worry about what beach you might end up at, do the Playa Del Sol beach excursion. There is a lot to do there. Nice beach area, great water toys (trampoline, climbing iceberg, paddle boats), chairs, umbrellas and floats are included as well as beverages (pop, beer and some mixed drinks), there is a swimming pool, changing rooms and a restaurant.

Just wanted to mention that Paradise Beach in Cozumel is free (i.e. no entrance fee), has beautiful water and sand, and not only can the kids dig in the sand, the manager there will actually find some plastic tubs for the kids to play with if you forget your own sand toys! Paradise Beach is a $12, 10 minute taxi ride from the International Pier and it's beautiful! Lots of comfortable lounge chairs, umbrellas, a beautiful bar, delicious food, very clean changerooms and washrooms, a climbing iceberg and trampoline in the water. We were there in April and just loved it! Food was great ($32 for a huge hamburger, fries, spicy chicken wrap, nachos and salsa and 3 pop!) and the portions were very generous. I saved $84 in entrance fees for 3 adults which I would have paid if I had taken the ship excursion (a RCI cruise, not a DCL cruise) to Playa Del Sol.

If you want a beach, Paradise Beach is the place to go!

I think that I'll head to Paradise Beach. I have been reading about that beach and it sounds great. Thanks again for the replies.
