I have really bad allergies and can't stand the pollen for my wedding ceremony and reception. Has anyone else used silk flowers for their wedding? Who was your vendor? How did they look? Did guests know they were fake?

Could some of you please post some pix of your bouquets (real and silk) because I'm having trouble deciding what I'd like. It's for a small wedding so nothing too extravagant. And we have a Mickey theme going so has anyone incorporated Mickeys into their flowers?

Thanks!!!

Hi there! I went with a silk arrangement because I am not a fan of real flowers (I always get super sad when they die). When I was given the flowers moments before I walked down the aisle, I was disappointed that (1) the flowers were not the dark purple I wanted but a much lighter, lavendar shade (I assume because they don't make hydrangeas that dark, but still, a heads up from the flourist would've been nice!) and (2) I thought they looked fake.

Turns out I was alone in my thinking that they looked fake. No one could tell they were fake, either in pictures or at the event.

HTH!

And I don't know if you can see it, but Rosie put a tiny hidden mickey on the stem of my bouquet.

You can also ask her to put tiny hidden Mickey crystals nestled into the flowers. Not sure how much they are though...

Edited to add: If you aren't having a Disney wedding, I'm sure your vendor can still incorporate these designs if you ask them! :thumbsup2

OMG those are beautiful..thanks for posting, I wanted to do something like this because I want them cheaper and save them so they still look great all the time. :)

My bridesmaid had silk flower bouquets that I bought off Ebay. I will find a picture and post for you. might be tomorrow now ......

I used silk flowers as well because I wanted to be able to keep mine without paying a fortune to have them preserved. Disney floral did my flowers. Everyone commented on how beautiful they were and no one could believe they were silks.

I'm doing faek for my wedding because I can buy them slowly over time and not pay a lump sum at the end. We're not having a park wedding but our wedding is cinderella themed. I have some links to some amazing florists that do all fakes. Im probably using one of these people as they have flowers that look so real!

My future sister-in-law made them. The picture of mine was taken with a cell phone camera, so it doesn't look really good, but it's beautiful in person!!! I agree with purplegirl, I can't stand watching flowers die - it's so sad!

I too am using silk flowers - I bought mine from a company online called blushingbrideonline.com ... here are some photos, I absolutely LOVE them!

Thank you to everyone who has posted their silk flower pix! They're all gorgeous!!!

Do any of the websites you have listed send all across the US?

My flowers were silk too. We had an intimate weddding and we asked Disney how much more for silk flowers, as my sister turns into sneezy around them. Think the upgrade on all the flowers was about $250, that included two button holes and two corsages (one pined and one for the wrist).

Also I think it is nice to have silk as you can take them home with you instead of seeing them die.

Here is the closest picture I have of them. I have hidden mickey on the handle of the flowers.

All of the silk flowers posted look 100% real to me - they all look incredible!

I may have to change my mind and use silk too!

We are going to use silk for the bouquets and the centerpieces. Tiger lilies are my favorite flower and thats what I have always wanted for my wedding but I'm super allergic to lilies. 2 months ago I was at AC Moore ( a craft store like Michaels) and they had some silk orange lilies that were on sale. I bought 2 bunches and then decided we would definitely use them. I went back a few days later and bought out all they had at one store. Turns out they were a summer special flower and they were on clearance 80% off!!! I went to the other location around here and bought them out too (they were 85% at that location!) Now I have huge bags of flowers storing at my moms house. We have played around with them quite a bit this summer so I have some pics I can post, I just have to wait until the next time I go to my moms house to get them. I'm not having a disney wedding so doing them myself is saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Flowers for 3 bouquets and 15 table centerpieces only cost about $60. Now I just have to start buying the vases each week with coupons :)

I found another designer in suburban Chicago who also does silk floral designs.

www.artisticfloraldesign.com

I'm going to have a phone consult next week to see what they can do. I also had a recommendation from another vendor in Milwaukee who may be able to do some real fakes for me.

Keep the silk pix comin'! They're all so beautiful and helping me with ideas since I'm flower-enept.

Where is everyone purchasing there silk flowers? I went to Michaels on Saturday and found a flower I really like and it looks real to me. Ill have to see if they have a picture of the flower on the website and post it on here later.

I have a question about bringing your own flowers to your reception. We are thinking about making up our own flowers and bringing them with us but was wondering how they would get setup? Does the wedding planner put out the flowers for you if you give them to them prior to the reception? How does this work?

Thanks

If you purchased your silk flowers online or through disney could you post the link to the website you purchased them from. Would love to get a few more ideas.

Thanks :)

I finally got a few of my photos online. I don't have photos of the bouquet yet but heres some of the centerpiece ones.
