Silicone I.D. Bracelets For Kids

We just used safteytat.com for our April trip and they were great! We had them pre-printed with DHs cell number and one tat lasted 4 days through baths, water rides and swimming. We were very impressed!! Sorry yours didn't do as well.

Cool! Maybe they changed their "ink" or something since I tried it. Ours were just about worthless. Glad yours worked....hopefully everyone else's do too!

Wow, looks like several of you are recommending Road I.D.
Looks like a nice quality product.

For our needs, I was looking for something less expensive, since it won't be used after our WDW trip.
I'm the out-of-state aunt. I will recommend these to their parents, though. :thumbsup2

Thank you all for your suggestions! :)

Darn, this company no longer does the bracelets. Oh well, thanks anyway!

I ordered a few custom silicone bracelets for my toddler from Shanrene a few weeks ago. I got the 2 sided .. my phone# on one side, DW's pnone# on the other. I got a light blue color so it isn't too distracting in photos. We put it on DS's ankle so it doesn't bother him. We put it on him to go to a carnival this past weekend. We even practiced him showing it to a police officer we saw at the carnival and the officer was saying how it was such a good idea for crowded events (and parks)

Thanks Bus36. I guess we are going to have to order from another company, since the Shanrene company says they have stopped making the bracelets.

Most of the ones I have found have a very large minimum purchase, I guess they mainly deal with charities, schools, etc.

Here's a company I found that only requires 5 bracelets as a minimum and has free shipping and no hidden set-up charges. Sounds good, I'll let you know! http://www.customsiliconebracelets.com/index.php?

I saw someone else on here mention safteytat.com. They are really great. I have used them on all 4 kids for the last 5 trips to WDW and DL. They always work really well for us. I personally like the ones you write on better than the preprinted ones. They stay on longer. I was able to put both my cell and my husbands on them. They stay on for about a week. Good luck.

*Update:
I just tried to order from this company that I posted about earlier and I guess I read wrong about the free shipping. The shipping fee pretty much doubled the cost of my order! I opted not to complete the order, so now I am on a mission to price-shop for these silicone wristbands. I'll let you guys know what I find. ;)

I have ordered several times from http://24hourwristbands.com/. No minimum. We get the debossed with "Blank Family" on the front and "(555)555-5555 (or) 5556" on the back. It not on the inside, but all around the bracelet. We also get the Waltograph font and the glow in the dark, which the kids think is cool. Cool Disney font. :)
We get the adult size and put them on their ankles and they cannot come off unless they are removed. You have to stretch them over their ankle and then they fit loosely once they are on. They wear them from the time we leave our house, until we get home. They are waterproof.

Totally bummed about Shanrene. Ordered from them lots, too. :(

Thank you so much, MistressMerryweather! This is exactly what I was looking for. I was confused about the "front" and "back". I kept exceeding the letter/number limit, thinking I would have to have one number on the top of the band and one on the inside. Thanks for clearing that up.:thumbsup2

Just an update on my search for custom wristbands.

I ordered from 24 hr. Wristbands AKA Imprint.com.
What I got was, 2 Youth size White Glow-In-The-Dark bands, with 2 cell numbers debossed around the surface.

The numbers are quite difficult to read, which actually might be good for privacy. You have to look very close to read them.

I would order way before you need them, unless you want to pay rush fees. It is insanely slow if you order the least expensive way. Our trip is not till October, so this was not a problem.

It took 16 days to get the bands. I ordered on June 12th, they arrived on June 28th.

2 bands, nothing special, no art, basic shipping, came to $13.33

I think these will work out great, because the kids can shower, swim and keep these on 24-7.

I lost my 7 year old for about 6-7 minutes leaving buzz light year in April. He knew my cell phone, but not the area code. He went to a DVC kiosk, and they were looking it up - at least 6 security guards were working with us - when we found him. I immediately took a sharpie and wrote my cell # on the arms of all 3 kids!

It worked great!

I second the RoadID suggestion - they're marketed for runners/cyclists/etc, but I have one for each of my kids. We also have extra bands in multiple colors :)

They type is small, but super easy to read. They ship pretty quickly, and you can add a couple lines, so if there is something specific you want on there, there's space for it.

If you want something other than the wristbands. Inchbugs have a safety section. I have not ordered any of the tattoos, but I ordered my niece the small labels for her bottles and my daughter uses the label stickers. Just another thought.

I made my kids dogtags out of the quick service machine at Walmart. It was $6 for each with Batman. I put a general "If found please Call" along with both of our cell numbers. Then went back to the ceiling fan dept and picked up a 6' length of chain for $1.50 that comes with two attacher things and simply cut to fit once I got home with some wire cutters. They can swim and sleep with the tags and later I can just attach them to luggage or to the camera bag.

I'm cheap ..... and not organized enough to order custom ID bracelets months ahead of time!

I got some of those brightly colored Tyvek wristbands (usually used for admission to events) on eBay for about $3. I got enough wristbands in enough colors that this will be the third time we're using from that initial order.

Every morning, the girls just pick out the color they want (I got an assortment of bright bright colors) and we write our cell phone on the wristband with a sharpie and we are good to go. The bands and writing hold up very well.

I just ordered from 24hourwristbands.com They were inexpensive ($2.65 each) and there was no minimum order. Shipping was inexpensive too! Lots of colors & styles to choose from and they have the Walt font :)

Glad someone resurrected this thread! Your idea is genius! My girls have tiny wrists and even the child's size bands will come off if they tug at them (either intentionally or absent mindedly). I made bracelets w/ number beads for our WDW trip (who knows how well they'll hold up though... I'm not exactly a crafty gal) but I may order bands to use as anklets once were back home. :thumbsup2
