???????

We are going to several of our favorite restaurants for dinner again and I always end up ordering the same things. I just can't seem to break away from the things I love. This trip we are going to most of our favorites TWICE!!! This means I can have my cake and try another kind too! ;)

So here is where I need the help. I will tell you where we are going and my favorites and you please recommend something else you think I would like. I like just about everything except I am not a fan of salmon. With that being said, let the recommendations begin!!!!

Narcoossee's - I always order the lobster tail and crab cake appy

Jiko - I always order the Kenyan braised short ribs and love them!

California Grill - I have ordered the sushi and love it and the pork entree.

Hollywood Brown Derby - Cobb salad, Grouper and crab cake appy

Flying Fish - The yummy snapper and usually the calamari appy

I feel ya, I order the Spicy Kazan roll at CG EVERYTIME along with the duck at Brown Derby.

The rest of the restaurants I can order different stuff, but no matter how hard I try I HAVE to order those two things once a trip.

Cali Grill - I forget the name of it, but there is a scallop dish with some kind of "bacon emulsion". I know it sounds weird, but it is delicious!! I have never eaten a dish as slowly as I ate that one...I had to savor every single bite!! I know that Cali Grill sometimes changes their menu based on the season, so I'm not sure if they will have this particular dish when you go.

My husband got this when we went last year and just about died over it - it had pears and homemade gnocchi (if we're thinking about the same dish). I know we will not be lucky enough to see it again this year!

On to the OP:

I can't really help you with Cali Grill since I always have and probably always will get sushi, specifically the Spicy Kazan roll and the combo platter.

Narccoosee's apps:

I had mussels last visit - they were delicious and plentiful. Seriously, I was practically stuffed by the time the entree came. DH had the chowder and pretty much licked the bowl. He's very excited about trying that again!

I am like you and always order the same thing each time we go to our favorite places to eat. With that said the Fillet at Cali Grill is out of this world, it is melt in your mouth good. My DH and I both get this everytime we go and can't seem to get away from it either...in 10 days we will be ordering it again :cool1:

Jiko: Maize-crusted fish with vegetables of the moment and tomato-butter sauce. I like to start with the Tastes of Africa spreads.

California Grill: a flatbread, then the striped bass

Brown Derby: Coconut-Tofu noodle bowl

Flying Fish: the scallops. Last time I ate there it came with a butternut squash risotto that was just amazing.

I haven't been to Narcoosees for a while so no recommendations there.

Jiko - I always order the Kenyan braised short ribs and love them!

I hate to be the one to say it, but incase you haven't checked out the updated Jiko menu on the Disney website, the short rib is not longer being offered. It was a favorite of mine, too. (Along with the ostrich app which is no longer on the menu either, it was my all time favorite meal.)

The spice-crusted tuna at Jiko is very tastey and would recommend that if the short rib is indeed no longer on the menu.

The entree I had at Flying Fish is no longer on the menu either (maybe I am bad luck) but the crab cake app is pretty good.

I'm not a habitual eater but there are a few things I have found I like better.

1. The waygu beef at V&A is the only piece of meat I've had at WDW that I thought was worthy of a habitual repeat. I also love the chocolate souffle here.

2. Scallop appetizer at bluezoo. The raw oysters here are delicious too.

3. I always get a soup at Jiko. I have not had one yet that wasn't "the best ever".

4. Sushi at Ca Grill. I like the tuna the best and I sometimes get the Snake in the Grass as an entree.

5. Cheese plates. My favorites are Flying Fish and Citricos.

6. Risotto at Il Mulino.

7. Goat cheese appetizer at Bistro de Paris.

8. Creme brulee at Yachtsman; it's my favorite creme brulee at WDW.

9. I used to love the seared ahi at Brown Derby but it's gone now. I had the grouper on my last visit and it was good but not as good as the ahi.

10. I like the berry cobbler at Artist Point.

11. Nothing at Narcoosees has ever made me think I had to have it again on the next visit.

That's the one! They should have a hotline to tell us when that dish is available and I would drive directly there to have it!

It WAS really, really good...DH didn't care for the pears (he doesn't like cooked fruit very much) so I was totally dragging the pears through the sauce and trying to pick up as much as I could! I'm sure the fact that it was a pear offset the fact that I was dragging it through bacon fat...:rotfl: That was a genius dish.

Also, now that another poster mentioned it, I remember that we have a shot from 2 years ago of DH cutting his filet at Cali Grill with a butter knife!

I love the Spicy Kazan!!! Its my fav too and I know I will continue to order it. I have never had the duck at HBD. Is it really good? I may be up for that if it is.
I really enjoyed the scallops at Flying Fish.
I have had the scallops at FF a while ago and they were good. They often change what they are made with, like risotto or pasta. I love scallops and may give that a shot too next time.
I am a habitual orderer as well.. LOL
Glad to know that I am not alone!

OMGosh!!! I think my husband had that the last time we went and I loved it! He would hardly share with me they were so good. I hope they are the menu next time we are there too. :lovestruc
Jiko, the lamb with couscous was absolutely AMAZING!
I am not a big lamb fan, although DH is and would probably love this recommendation.l:thumbsup2

The Spicy Kazan is a keeper for sure. The chowder at Narcoosees sounds interesting. Is it like a regular clam chowder? I think I would like that. The mussels sound yummy too.

Lucky you!!! Wish I coul be there in that soon. Let me know if there are any goodies you come across along the way worth remembering for my trip.

I have seen the Maize crusted fish at Jiko being ordered and it looks delish! I may have to seriously consider that as an option if those ribs are not available.

I saw that on the website and I can not tell you how disappointed I am. How could they do this to me!!!!!!:lmao: I hope they just forgot to put it on there or they are bringing it back. I am glad to know that you recommend the tuna though. I am a big tuna fan and it may be a battle between the tuna and the maize crusted fish......we will see who will win!:rotfl:

I was a Cobb Salad loyalist, but on one trip my eggs were icy and I've never ordered it since. Try the duck it's fantastic!

I have yet to try V&A but would love too. I think the first trip we make after the kids are all off to college will be the time we splurge for this one. (That will be next summer!!!)

What was the soup at Jiko?

Sushi at the CG is always on our list of to dos. I don't ever thinkwe will deviate from that one .

I had the grouper the last time we were at HBD and loved it! I thought it was very good. Good enough to order again, but not good enough to NOT try something else if that makes sense.:lmao: I will definitely consider the tuna. As I mentioned earlier...I am a tuna fan!:)
I second the scallop dish at Flying Fish! :thumbsup2
Good to know! This is on the list of possibles for sure!:thumbsup2
That's the one! They should have a hotline to tell us when that dish is available and I would drive directly there to have it!

I totally agree!!! I would love for Disney to have a hotline like this. I would be meeting you there for dinner!!!:drive:

Hmmm the duck is starting to sound better and better. :)

I do have to agree with you on the cobb salad though. The last time we were there I was NOT so much a fan for the same reason.

I do however, love the potato crusted crab cakes!

At CG, try the ostrich entree. It is amazing! The rock shrimp salad my DH had as his appetizer was quite good too, but not enough to lure me away from the sushi menu.

At Jiko, the ostrich was the best app of the evening, followed closely by the BBQ flatbread. The filet with mac & cheese gets rave reviews but the pairing just didn't do anything for me, so I'll be back to the drawing board for entrees on our next visit.

I always order the crab cake at Narcoosees too, but I'm not a fan of lobster so I've branched out on entrees. The ahi tuna is quite good, as is the shrimp.

I always mean to try the cheese plate at one of the signatures, but there always seems to be something else calling my name when it actually comes time to order.
