What is the best way to get character signatures on clothing? Sharpies or fabric pens?

just me being nosey... will the kids be wearing the items or no? I think if they are wearing them then a sharpie might not be best as they can bleed through the clothing.

Characters are not allowed to sign clothes if they are being worn at teh time.

I have read that clickable sharpies are good for the charaters to hold and on the websomewhere I read that you can make them more permanant by soaking in vinegar and letting the garment dry before washing.

Oh that is nice to know pigletforever. I had no idea the rules but thought I'd throw out the whole permanent marker can bleed part.

Actually, the autographs would be for a shirt that I would wear, but not at the time of signing. Thought it would be a different way to collect signatures, by having them sign a plain white t-shirt instead of a regular autograph book. I was going to use an embrodery hoop to hold the shirt in place for the character to sign.

Would you soak the shirt before or after the signatures? I did read on another post that they recommended washing the shirt in a regular load of laundry PRIOR to the signatures. Is this right?

Teh vinegar part is done AFTER it is signed. This will help set the ink. I don't know about washing before hand if you are using this method. A

Since the characters need large pens, I picked up a few of these really huge pens at Five Below for about $2 each. They're about a foot long and pretty thick. They even have halloween ones!

I have heard that characters connot use permanent markers at all?? :confused3

My cousin went to WDW at Christmas and used several different colored Sharpies and didn't have any trouble with getting autographs. I am taking Sharpies to do a shirt, too, on our trip in 2 weeks.

I do know that to keep color from fading (like in a tie-dye shirt) you soak the shirt after colored, written on, etc. in 1 cup of vinegar in a bathtub of cold water about 4 inches deep (however many gallons that is).

Thank you for the tip. Never thought about doing that. I got an assortment of 8 different colored clickable Sharpies (was on sale at Target). I thought the clickable one's would be better, as to not losing caps, plus they are long enough for the character to sign. I also like the assorted colors so that I can have the villians :maleficen sign in the darker colors, the princesses in the lighter colors, :tinker: the fab five ::MinnieMo pluto: :goofy: :mickeyjum :donald: in another color and so on.
