In the final stages of our trip planning for the end of next month. We still can't pick our date night restaurant. Last night we spent the evening on DIS boards looking at food reviews and menus, and I think it made the situation worse.

Maybe it was pictures of charred steaks and being from Alberta....or the macaroni served with them (no offence but it looked so heavy and I don't eat pasta!). We are quite openminded and not too picky, just don't want to end up with shoe leather on our plates.

What Signature Restaurant would you go without the kids, and please sell me on it as to why?

Thank you so much!!

My suggestion would be California Grill!! It has always been our favorite. We just got back last week, and we had the opportunity to eat there twice. We haven't been there since it has been reopened, and it did not disappoint!!! On our first visit my DD and I shared some sushi, and I ordered the goat cheese ravioli as a meal. My DH and DD ordered the filet. Everything was prepared perfectly and our service was excellent. Our second visit was just as delicious as the first. MY DH got sushi as an appetizer and we all ordered the filet. The views are also amazing and you can finish off your evening with Wishes!!

California Grill!! at night for the MK fireworks! I did this for my honeymoon and it was amazing. The food is some of the best I remember from that trip. My ex got sushi that he still talks about to this day and after we finished eating we took a glass of wine and went out on the roof top to watch the fireworks. So romantic. They pipe in the sound from the show. There is nothing like this its pure Disney magic. pixiedust:

As you looking for steaks? I ask because that's what you mentioned in your post. Most any of the Signatures can do an outstanding steak, so if that's your main goal, then any would work.

Otherwise, I would consider Jiko if you're looking for something a little adventurous. It has some standard(ish) items, but several items with a slight African twist. One of the most popular sides is the macaroni, but you don't have to get that if you don't like pasta. Most TS locations can substitute the side from one dish for the side from another dish (as long as the side doesn't have a separate price point). Jiko tends to be on the quieter side and seems slightly more "romantic" than the other Signatures.

Another Signature that is off the beaten path is Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. The food and service have been very good when I've gone. The restaurant has huge picture windows which are very pretty.

My favorite Signature is Narcoossee's. The food and service are outstanding. The menu is focused more on seafood, but the filet mignon is one of the best I've had in WDW. The restaurant also has a pretty good view if Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant Parade from the veranda.

In general, the later you dine, the less children you will see (except at CA Grill). However, there is really no way to know whether you'll have a quiet, romantic meal or if you'll be seated next to the table with the child that decides to do jumping jacks in the aisle (yes, I've seen this happen).

Thank you so much for the suggestions!!

figment_jii steak is always near the top of our list, but due to the heat, and all the other foods eating, I will probably stick with seafood, on the lighter side! As for kids, if they are there, then so be it, we have the 4 and are quite understanding. It is our own we are getting away from for the evening, and them from us!

Artists point looks yummy, going to keep an eye out for California grill, but so far no availability (sure wish I had booked it at the 6month mark!).

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated too!

Huh? :confused3

When looking for suggestions, taste in food and ages of children would give us a better idea what restaurant to suggest.

No kids with us!! I was saying that if any neighbouring tables had kids it wouldn't bother us because we have four of our own.

Taste, up for pretty much anything! Just want to stay on the healthier side that night.

If you are heading to Downtown Disney we really enjoyed Paradiso 37. Ate there on two separate visits once inside, once out and enjoyed it both times.

California Grill might be a good one for you then, as you can get a great view of the fireworks show.

If there is nothing open at California Grill as you mentioned a few posts ago, I'd suggest booking an ADR for The Wave (also at Contemporary) and enjoying an amazing dinner. They have lots of options, many of which are lighter or seafood items. We really really enjoyed our meals and service here in May. My mom probably liked The Wave better than Cali Grill as she keeps talking about it and asking to go back! Our server Marisa really made the experience special for us and helped us celebrate with her kindness, attentive (but not overbearing) demeanor, and that little extra Disney magic.

However, there is the small issue of The Wave being located in a windowless part of the Contemporary resort - so I'd suggest moving to the lounge of California Grill just before fireworks. (You might also ask about getting a more intimate table, I believe there were more private booths lining the walls but we loved being in the thick of the action when we went!) Once up on top of the resort, you can relax in the lounge with table service on their low cocktail tables, order drinks and/or dessert, and move out to one of the observation decks just in time for Wishes. I can't imagine a more romantic experience at Disney (although I have never done Victoria and Alberts).

I hope you have a wonderful time!

Narc posers would be my choice for date night. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and you can watch both the electrical water pageant and wishes from the restaurant or the boat dock.

California Grill is our favorite and a must do every trip! I dream about the spicy Kazan roll! It's so good.

My favorite is Jiko, but if you like seafood Narcoossee's might be fun.
