If anyone is interested in joining us for the 2nd annual homeschooler field trip to WDW, the first week of September, let me know. We're planning early so we can reserve our Grand Gatherings experiences - some of the kids are taking the classes, too. Our family is from Texas & we're hoping to get as many families who can go, from across the US, to join us. So....who's interested? And, thanks to the mom(s) who led me to this site. It's great!

Just an FYI, Disney has some planned homeschool days the 18th 19th and 20th of Dec. I assume you know about the homeschool discount on tickets?

Have fun. Since we leave in two days, I think it will be too much to hope that we will be able to join you. I wish it were possible!!

What??? I never heard of any special homeschool activities at WDW, and I certainly never heard of any ticket discounts??? Tell me more!!! BTW, we were just there last month (for Christmas) and were not planning to go again until Spring or early Summer 07 so we will not plan on making it this September. I would love to know the website where you guys get this info, particularly the ticket part. My sil lives north of Orlando, homeschools, and I have never heard her say anything about any of this.....

Yes--Disney began homeschool days in the last year or two. My homeschool group went in September (we couldn't due to timing and lack of $$$--we take a big budget hit at the start of the school year as we have to pay a lot of stuff in advance for the year). For a discounted rate (with a min of 10 K-12 grade homeschoolers)--the kids and chaperones get a reduced rate ticket. You get to take part in a talk at EPCOT--in World Showcase I believe. You get a book and then you are off to learn and have fun for the rest of the day.

Coming up--they are having an Expedition Everest preview--though the pricing is set as regular school groups. I am sure anyone can call and see if they can do a homeschooling group rate. You get to ride EE before the park opens and then speak with a scientist (something about archaeology re: theming of the ride--but the real deal).

I have the flyers on e-mail if anyone is interest. Just PM me your e-mail addy and I will be happy to forward them along.

A homeschool DIS meet FT sounds awesome. If our finances are fine, then we may be able to do that. And by fine--we are planning a BIG family vacation in October to Hawaii and we are making sure we aren't wasteful during the year so that we can enjoy our trip. :)

Lisa, thanks for the link. I will p.m. you re:flyers (are they more hs specific?) I guess mostly Florida residents take advantage of the new hs activities, but I know school groups from all over go to WDW so why not hsers? Like I said, we were just there in Dec so it will be 07 before we go back. Our next vacation or 2 will be to explore our new home state. Finances are dismal for us right now, we still have yet to sell our house in Il so 2 house notes :sad2: Have fun in Hawaii, I don't think I have any desire to fly that far, but I am sure it is gorgeous!
