So my DD5 and I are making a sign in the hopes of getting picked for Jedi. Question. If she's standing with other kids hoping to get picked, and not with me, what should she do with her sign if she gets picked.

With a sign and her pink Star Wars shirt, I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

You can be sitting by her on the ground... or standing off to the side where she could hand it to you if she gets selected. They tend to pick the kids who are looking excited and animated, at least that's what DH was told by a Disney exec friend several years ago. Best of luck to her!!:thumbsup2

i would just get there a bit early, get a spot on the ground and be close to the front. she can stand up and jump up and down when they are choosing children and hand you the sign when she gets picked. BEST of luck - it'll be great!

My DS5 got picked in May, and he just took the sign up with him. When the CM went to put the Jedi robe on DS, she also took the sign from him.

OP here. Ok, it was a non-issue. I thought the kids would sit separately from parents.

We went today. The sign and angry birds Star Wars shirt works and my DD5 was picked the second the Jedi master saw her. She couldn't get the hang of the release button on the lite saber. While CMs helped her, she missed some of the other instruction. Given how she doesn't like loud noises and does find Darth Vader scary, she got scared and didn't fight him.

Oh well. We had a great day.

It sounds like you, like me, really want our kids to be picked more than they do. Or even better, we wish we could be up there instead. They need an adults show.

If only there was an adults show. I was quite excited when we helped get my friend's daughter picked 2 weeks ago.

I recommend watching the show from the stage area, especially if you have somebody in the show. I try to watch the JTA once per visit and this was the first time I've seen it from up close like that.

Also, if you have a sign, make sure it's small enough to fit easily in whatever you're carrying with you in the park. Fold it up if necessary. Security can be extra strict about signs.

That's great OP that your DD tried to do the JTA. My DD loves Star Wars, but is too afraid to participate so far. She loves watching it though.

My friend's daughter didn't want to do it in 2012 even after he tried to encourage her, but in 2013, she was ready.

You know this training is something that Florida does right compared to California...

I love the fact that you take the kids in and SIGN UP / RESERVE their spot first thing in the morning.

In 2011 we had to sit through 2 shows for my son to get picked....all be it he loved it, but it was a drastic hit on free time..

We made signs too, wore bright shirts and jumped up and down excitedly and in the end only my middle child wanted to do it. LOL. Really suprised the older dd8 did not. Oh well. I researched this about how to get picked and accidently landed on WDW page and thought I could go sing up. I had it all planned out in my touring plan. Then maybe saw another post here about it and had to research again and figure out I could not do that DL.
