I have the opportunity of picking up a Sigma 28mm f2.8 mini wide II lens for practically nothing. I've read some mixed reviews on this lens. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge about this lens?

Thanks

I bought one brand new many years ago for my K1000... dunno what mount you're talking about but they are probably all about the same, quality-wise. It's a pretty decent lens, nice manual focus feel and pretty good results.

I haven't used mine much on my DSLRs (and have actually been figuring that I'd sell it one of these days, but have been saying that for a while), but I do have a few example shots that I took with it. These were all manually focused on my first DSLR which had a pentamirror, I'm sure I could focus more consistently with my current pentaprism and Katz-Eyed DSLR.

If it's cheap and you don't have a problem with manual focusing, go for it!

Thanks for the info and the samples.

I found it in a thrift store with a price tag of $15 and luckily it was fitted to an old beat up Oly OM camera so it will fit my E510 with the adapter. Since I just purchased a 50mm OM lens I'm getting used to manually focusing so that won't be an issue.
