Sightings from the porthole

Our first cruise we ran parallel to another ship most of the way to Nassau. We couldn't really see it until it got dark, but then it was lit up like no tomorrow. I have no idea how far it was off the starboard side (a mile? half mile?), but we were obviously going to the same place. I think from the way the lights and the stacks looked it might have been a Carnival ship.

LOST....don't ya just love it?!?!

Yes it is a great show! Though I watch Fox as little as possible, I think "House" and "Lost" are brilliantly written. :cheer2:

Last week we saw several dolphins playing around the ship while still at Port in Florida then while going out at sea (I think after leaving Bahamas) we saw a whale jumping around for a long time.

This proved to be the highlight of our trip because other than that we saw waves!

that would be a huge thrill!!!!!!!

We saw something really cool--a water tornado! Looked just like the ones in Twister. It was off in the distance so it wasn't scary, just cool looking. We tried to take a picture but it didn't come out. Almost made up for our day at sea being rainy!

I am currently assigned to deck 1 (with the two small portholes), but am
wait-listed for deck 2.

What is the height, I'll call it, of the porthole(s) from the floor?
Do you sit on the sofa and see out, or must you stand to see out?

Thanks,
Melanie

:rotfl2: Alright all you 11/14/04 villainous voyagers! You all know what happened during the first night!

For those that don't apparantly one elderly couple on deck two got waves against their window, and, also, a rock going THROUGH it. This happened while they were SLEEPING. Needless to say it scared the crap out of them and they were upgraded to, I believe, a cat 5 room.

Needless to say all of their belongings were soaked, as well as the staterooms on each side I think. The carpet was ruined however it was replaced quickly.

I cant even imagine how much that would freak me out. :umbrella:

I do not believe you could see out if you are seated...you could see up to the sky, but I don't recall being able to see straight out to the water unless I stood up...I am 5'7.

Does the dock workers, when I forgot to close my curtin at night, sound interesting? I bet it was to them!

Is that why I need clothes pins????? What dock workers? How are they outside deck 2? Help! I'm cruise impaired!!!!!! :rotfl:

When the ship is in various ports, Decks 1 and 2 are about eye level with folks out on the docks...so, keep your curtains closed if you are changing!!!

And, fyi.....DCL is constantly doing maintenace to the ship....very often you will see workers dangling from scaffolding on all decks of the ship!!!

Thank you for that info, it is invaluable! Clothes pins in the suitcase as we speak!

Aah, come on now, give those poor guys working outside a break!! ;) ;) ;)

My 1st post!!!

We were on the Magic 9/00, and DD (then 7) loved to sit in the window and look out. We got quite a shock the day we were in port at St. Maarten, when the the window washers "rapelled" (sp?) down and started waving to us! Got some great photos!
Looking forward to our 1/06 4-nt. Wonder cruise w/ DH, DD13 and DS4.
I LOVE THIS SITE - HELPS ME FORGET IT'S STILL WINTER HERE IN KANSAS!
