Well, today is the last day DD will be a single digit, tomorrow she turns 10. She is such an amazing kid and I love every new stage, all the things she learns, how her mind works and I wouldn't change one (maddening  ) thing about her. But oh how I miss my baby! She is a singleton so I think that heightens the feelings. We ordered her birthday cake on Wed and she wanted "Grace" not "Gracie" just another indication that she is growing up.

It is amazing how one can feel so happy and proud and so forlorn at the same time...

Awww, is that her pic in your siggie!! She's always gonna be that baby to you, huh? :cutie:

I remember when my son went from Mikie to Michael, now just MIKE. He seemed to have grown up in 2 secs.. :confused3 Double digits hit me like a bomb too, he was FIVE when I found the DIS. He'll be the dreaded 18 on his next birthday and I have no idea where the time went????

Now I look forward to grandkids!! :lmao:

I completely understand how you feel. My only baby is going to be a teenager in a few months, and I just can't believe it. I love the wonderful young woman she is becoming, but I can't help but miss my sweet little baby girl! I especially miss all the hugs and cuddles, and being called "Mommy". Now, I'm "Mom" (which is sometimes accompanied with an eye roll...), and I have to practically chase her down and tackle her for a hug!:rotfl:

On a side note, she had scoliosis correction surgery back in December, and for a few weeks afterward, I had to take complete care of her just like I did when she was small. I helped her dress, bathe, do her hair, eat, etc., and we cheered every milestone just as we did when she was a toddler (Yea! She sat up! Yea! She rolled over! Yea! She took a few steps!). It was tiring, but I enjoyed it. I loved having the chance to take care of my baby again. Now, she's back to normal, and can do everything for herself, though I think she got a bit spoiled during her recovery. I have to put my foot down and remind her she can get her own snacks, and dry her own hair!;)

Every time my older kids hit milestones, it helps me so much that there are more coming with the younger set. And once they've reached those milestones (first steps, first tooth, first day of kindy, etc.), I've BTDT enough that it's not too painful. My oldest is going to HS next year - that goodness I still have first graders! If I knew how fast this was all going to go, I think I might've kept going! ;) Happy birthday to her.

Happy early birthday to your daughter! Tomorrow is my mom's birthday too. :goodvibes
