I'm losing my job I think....

I had my own company (consulting - IT), and left it for the security of a permanent job. And in management too!

But we're being bought out, so I will get 1 month severance, WoHoo...., and being junior, no stock options, etc...

I could kick myself for leaving the other position, but I thought it would be good to learn new skills...... And I wanted to get some health insurance because hubby is in Information Technology too, and they are doing 30% reduction in March.

So I'm kinda down... Need some pixie dust.

I'm cancelling my spring break cruise, cause I don't know how long this will last....

But at least we can still go down for January. Anyone know of the rental car place at the swan & dolphin. We're going to BWV, and I'd like to defect to Universal and Sea World for a day or so....

Oh well, Hope everyone else is well, and at least we're all healthy.

:wizard: I hope things look brighter for you!

There's National Car rental at the S&D and I've asked on these boards and learned is a shuttle to the car care center for rentals from resorts as well.

Good luck! This is a hard time of year for lots of folks, everyone is "supposed" to be happy and bright, but there's lots of the other stuff around now too!

Oh Lucy, I am so sorry to hear of your sadness, look on the brighter side, god has a place for you and this is his way to clear your schedual for a new bigger brighter beginning. Take care and you can always rebook your cruise next year or at a different time.

Good luck . It will work out in the end. :Pinkbounc

What exactly do you do? I know Calamos is has several IT positions listed and they just built that brand new building at I-88 and Rt.59. A friend of mine had left Cisco to work for them, but ended up leaving to go back to Cisco. Nothing bad, just didn't enjoy the production environment as much as he enjoyed being involved in the supply end.

Also, where I work, I know one of our web application guys just put in his notice this week, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have something posted soon in Naperville.

I'm currently a test manager at Ibbotson Associates. We're being bought out by Morningstar. But Morningstar doesn't have a centralized QA department, so I am worried..... and starting to look.

I used to be a lead developer at Lucent, but got laid off with all the outsourcing... so then switched to QA to test the stuff that I used to develop. I have lots of trading experience (futures / commodities / hedge funds / asset management. I held my series 7 & 63 so I could talk to the trades and translate the stuff into computerize....)

Thanks for the thoughts.... Can I email you... I am interested in Calamos, and took their personality test and passed, but then nothing.

I'll be in touch!

WDWSTAR. Thanks for the thoughts.... I'll let you know how it works out.

You know, nine times out of 10 these things are a blessing in disguise.
After loosing a job it forces us to update that resume, and look for something better.

-- It really does work out quite well very often.

Good Luck!!! :wizard:

I know that's what happened to me! Good things DO come out of what seems to be a bad problem. I always say, when I relax and simply open my arms to the universe, incredible things happen.

Good luck!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that Lucy, but I notice you live in Napierville, near Chicago. DD is a recruiter thru Hewitt Corp up in Lincolnshire. If you PM me I will give you her email, she may be able to help a fellow DISer. It's worth a try anyway... ;)

Hi there!

Sending lots of pixie dust and hugs your way.

Enjoy your trip in January at the BWV. What special things do you have planned for this trip?

Take care and may God bless you and keep you in the palm of his hand.

Renee

Cruelladeville,

I sent you a PM with my personal email in it.

Thanks everyone for the help.... I'm asking everyone, because in this job market you almost need a personal reference to get the position.

Thanks again, Lucy (Goldi)

If anyone else has any ideas, please contact me....
