*sigh* Fla Resident Rates for May??

chobie-I can't scroll back right now...was that for a value resort? I remeber right after 9/11, values were around $50. We used to stay at WL and AK for $130 a night. POR and CSR were around $100 a night. That kind of ruined me, I just cannot pay that much for a room at a value or mod. I am spoiled by renting DVC points. Staying 4 nights at BLT in Sept for $600.

JW-Hello neighbor! I was just at the BJs by you today! I am excited to stay in the cabins for the first time EVER this May! Only doing it because good friends/business partner of DH's is staying in their RV on the same loop. Normally we would never spend that $$$!

Yep, that is for value. I can stay at the Hyatt Grand Cypress for for t hat much (including the "resort fee") with my gov. discount. I stayed many a night at PC for $50, there is no way I would ever pay more than $80 for a room there. I can't believe that a weekend in May that is not a holiday weekend could be that much.

LOL, yes I am a member there as well.;)

The cabins are such a different feel from anywhere in WDW I don't know how to explain it. I find them so relaxing and tranquil (which you may already be used to where you live ;))...yet everything is so accessible even with the internal buses.

We got a very good rate last month, under $200 a night which was less than we spent back in 2003 for the same exact time (go figure that out??) so I jumped at it.

And something about staying there when it's cold is fun too. WE made smores on our bbq right outside our cabin a few times which was a lot of fun. DH brought our bikes up in his truck so we did a lot of bike riding.

I checked the rates for May and they're def. much higherthan what we paid in Feb. (even with the FL res. disc.) :sad2:, so we may have to go with SSR which is our usual place these days if we do go.

Chobie-I agree with you 100%! To complete my "dream" of staying at every resort once, I need to stay at an All Stars resort, and also CBR (as well as GF and Poly, but that's another issue). Welll...I don't want to PAY what WDW is charging for that value and mod! Not when I can stay elsewhere on property ( at a DELUXE) for the same price. Anyway, enjoy your trip!

Sometimes, I wonder about the "depression" our economy is in when I go to Disney and see it packed, or I try to get a good rate and see that prices are high. I am thinking that we are having a lot of foreign visitors, because the dollar value is so low and it is a good deal for them?? That might be it.

JW-I am so excited to stay there. We have done the HDDR (I got selected to go on stage as the can can dancer:banana:) and the campfire/singalong/movie, as well as the petting zoo ( a long time ago) and pony rides. I just love the place. We have an ADR for Trails End for the first time ever...for the breakfast buffet. I know it is nothing "special" but I can't wait to try it! We will probably bring our golf cart with us to avoid the $60 daily charge.

My biggest issue is we don't have our Fl res seasonal passes at the moment...and honestly, I think I would rather hang at the resort and soak in the amenities than go to the parks! The family we are going with does have passes, so we will probably get that 4 day Fl res pass for $119. I just want to make sure we do a trail ride on horseback, and an archery class. Plus, I want to hang by the pool!

Keep in touch, neighbor!

I was wondering what the requirements are for being able to use FL resident discounts. We own property down there but don't actually live there.
I was told that my daughter who is a full time student in Florida is eligible for the FL resident discount.

Well I called in for the FL Resident rates.. seems like the Values don't have much of a discount, as our rate went from $405 for our stay to $380.. still...$25 is $25.. will cover the cost in tolls going up. :)

I just called and was quoted $120 per night for PC (preferred room), for May 20-22. That's crazy IMO.
I just pulled it up online and I got $101.25/night (preferred) at PC. I went through the special offers page and clicked on the FL resident offer.

Standard was $90/night.
