Hey everyone! This is the first trip we are taking with my niece and nephew... since we are going in August (in just 9 days!!) we will be back at the hotel during the heat of the day.. my mom and I have decided to bring some fun things along to do while hanging at the hotel (wind up airplanes, bubbles etc) i also got some sidewalk chalk.. i figure it rains every day by 3pm anyways so itll wash away... has anyone else done this? will we get yelled at? will we upset the mickey police? My niece doesn't know we are bringing this stuff so if we have to leave the chalk at home no big loss i guess....

Thanks! :cool1:

I would think it would be frowned upon and I wouldn't take the chalk. Some chalk stains clothing and if another guest walked by and their baby got it on their clothing....etc it could cause an issue. Of if you're on the second floor and it rains and the chalk colors run over the balcony...etc....again, just trying to think of all the things that could go wrong and I'd probably leave the chalk at home.

no, i dont think they will allow you to use chalk at the hotels. i dont even know where you would do it. there really arent areas wide enough to play in, im sure thats done on purpose.
i would just skip the chalk.

I've been to WDW many times and it's only rained on me twice. I wouldn't rely on that to wash the chalk away.

Where are you planning on using the wind-up airplanes, in the hotel? I hope not!

Why not just go for a swim, or take a nap? Isn't that the reason people go back, to cool down and rest, not run around in the heat of the day! How about bringing coloring books and crayons instead?

oh, i didnt even see the wind up airplanes, i guess if you use them in the room only that would be fine. but not in a public area.

some of the resorts have play grounds.

DS3 loves sidewalk chalk, but I only let him use it in our own backyard (we live in Brooklyn and so we have a concrete backyard!). I would not let him use it in public, and I don't let him use it in front of the house either where it could affect someone else. I would not bring it on a vacation to use at a hotel. To keep kids busy, if they are going in the pool you could let them play with some pool toys that wouldn't disturb anyone else, maybe something like that. Even with all the rain we had when we were at WDW in July, I don't think sidewalk chalk would have washed away that quickly.

I would skip the chalk and instead get:
- books
- coloring books and crayons
- zigsaw puzzles
- maze type workbooks

What resort are you staying in. At the pop century they have an area out front with the chalk supplied by disney for kids and kids at heart to create their magic. You could always call the resort and ask them if it is alright to use sidewalk chalk in any area.

Personally, I would skip the airplanes, chalk, bubbles, etc., and enjoy what the resorts have to offer. Use the playgrounds, walk around the resorts, use the pool, and take time to explore all of the things that are not available at home. Trust me, there is plenty to do to keep the kids busy and you will probably end up spending much less time around your room than you think. Disney is a jam packed vacation. Not much time for the kids to get bored.

I would, as others have suggested, bring a few "indoor" type things to do in case of bad weather though. A few years back we got caught up in a hurricane and we were glad to have stuff in the room to keep the kids busy (a deck of cards, skip-bo, books, coloring pages and crayons, small toys, etc).

I'd also SKIP the chalk, I see you're at CB.

There is SO MUCH to do, I REALLY think that you are fine without it. What lucky kids to have such a great aunt!!!

A stop at playground, SWIMMING, YES, even DISNEY TV, some coloring books/crayons, OLD maid cards, the atmosphere alone keeps kids busy.

HAVE A WONDERFUL time mak'n those Memories that will last a LIFETIME!!

Wow so it seems like the consensus is to skip the chalk so I'll go ahead and do that....
