Considering addding another side trip to our November plans since my hubby has now added 2 days to our trip.

I was thinking about going to St. Augustine due to historical sights and was wondering if anyone has been and what they can tell me about it. Sounded like a beautiful old historical area with a fort, wall, historic homes. Thought it might balance all our amusement park days. Any input?

We visited St Augustine 10 years ago or so. I don't remember a whole lot. It was very pretty though. The fort was neat, made entirely out of broken bits of seashells. We were able to bring small pieces of it home with us. On the beach you can find sharks teeth - tiny little black things. The town itself was pretty. I recall there was one shop that had a pond with tropical fish, set right into the sidewalk. I have no idea how they did it but it certainly caught our attention.

We have visited St. Augustine several times. It is a beautiful city and the fort was great fun. The mall (street) is mainly old buildings which have been converted into stores. There are fountains, street performers and lots to see. We have visited with kids (ages 6,9,13) and as adults only. We enjoyed both visits. There is an Alligator Farm (Park) nearby and the kids really liked it. The beaches are great for walking but not exactly swimming beaches. If you like to shop there are two huge outlet malls at Hwy 95. I found the shopping better than Orlando.
Enjoy!

I love St Augustine. It's so charming. I love the history behind this city. The last time we visited they had living statues and many other street performers. Each shop is quaint and if you like antiques there are many to find. I took my boys on the Sightseeing Train (really cute bright red tram that looks like a train) very informative and enjoyable. I didnt know St Augistine was the oldest city in th U.S until we visited! We took a day trip from Daytona and since that visit I have been looking to plan a weekend around it. If you decide to go here is a website to check things out and I think some coupons also. Have Fun:)
