Sick Dog? *Update* pg 2

That is true! Griffin has been on prednisone several times. He gets hot spots! OP, I'm glad your new edition to the family will be better soon!

Okay - I thought I was remembering correctly. Chloe has been to the vet so many times, that they kinda start to blur together! :teeth:

Yup! One of the few downsides of owning a Golden. Great dogs, but I hate those hot spots!

My Shepard was on pred, it made her eat and eat and pee and pee. My advice, if you have to leave her alone in the house, buy some piddle pads. They have a scent that will attract your dog and make her go there. Saves lots of wear and tear on the carpets.

I'm happy your sweetie will be ok! :cheer2:

The vet said it was the dog version of bronchitis...and that it sounds worse than it is. He put her on and antibiotic and temaril P (P for prednisolone). She will still need one shot and I think I'm going to do an additional shot they recommended (had something to do with stagnant water). We have a creek behind our house so I felt this would be a good choice. I can get the shots for her in 3 weeks. Thanks for all your help. I have learned a couple of new items...ie reverse sneezing and coughing related to heart disease. This beautiful dog was likely dumped on some land owned by our neighbors parents.

Glad she is feeling better :goodvibes

The shot is most likely for leptospirosis. It is a water born bacteria that can make dogs really sick. We take our girls to the dog park and the lake so they get one every year. The first time, they get two and then once a year.

I am glad that you got a diagnosis and treatment for Sophie. Hopefully before you know it, she will be as good as new! :)

Yes, mrsv98, that was the name...no wonder I forgot! They did explain that she will need a booster.

I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is that Sophie threw up a couple hours after she had her meds...so I'm not sure how much she got in her system. The good news is that she has been coughing less. I'm keeping my fingers crossed she has a good night. One other good note is that she went to the door to be let out before she threw up (what a polite little lady). I'm pretty sure the meds made her sick.

Thanks everyone! I've taken note about the extra pee on the prednisolone. This is very useful infromation as it's going become very very cold and I will not be able to leave her out on my work days this week.
