Sick baby - please help *New Update*

So glad she is okay and didn't have to go in the hospital. Thanks for letting us know. Isn't it nice to know there are people on here so ready to help and give good advice?

So glad to hear that she made it thru the worst of it. Thanks for the update :)

Now that she's able to keep some stuff down, consider ice pops. Kids love them and they're full of fluid.

Pedialyte probably makes some, otherwise you can do the frozen juice variety.

Well all was good yesterday till bed time, and she threw up everything again. We think it was because she was running around from room to room, but I'm still going keep a close eye on her. We were so close to being out of the woods! She seems better this morning, has already had half a bottle and a cracker, but is whininga bit, and that usually means shes going to upchuck. I really hope not, the carpet can't take much more, and I can't run the washing machine 20 times a week!

Sharp be real careful feading her so soon. That could be why it seems she is ok but the bug really isnt out of her digestive track completely.

Whenever we have had to deal with this, we were told to do the pedialyte/gatorade in slow increments than move onto other foods after about 24 hours of keeping the liquid eletrolytes down. And then when we did start small meals and absolutely NO dairy of any kind. We were usually told to start the BRAT diet (banans, rice, apples, toast) and then after a day of that maybe, just maybe move onto other foods,

If she does get sick again today, I would back off the food and give her system a chance to calm down, right now it is still in spastic mode bc of the bug and bc of getting sick over and over.

GL these bugs are never fun.

DD5 had the bug last week. She threw up once Monday night, once Wednesday morning (after I let her have milk - not a good idea!), and once Friday night. I took her to the doctor after the Friday episode - he said her stomach just wasn't balanced yet, although the virus was done doing its thing and she was not "sick" anymore. She still has not had milk again, although she has had some cheese. Her appetite didn't really return until yesterday, and now she is eating everything in sight. Stick to clear liquids for at least 24 hours, then go to very bland foods (crackers, soup broth with a few noodles (like Condensed Campbell's), jello, applesauce, plain Cheerios, toast). Let her have popsicles for breakfast if she wants. No dairy for at least a few days after she tolerates a bland diet - that includes milk, cheese, yogurt (I always thought yogurt was better than the rest of the dairy group but the doctor said no to that too). Put lots of towels down on the floor - DD5 is finally old enough to use the bucket most of the time.

DD5's "schedule" after the Friday episode was 24 hours bland diet, 24 hours eating what she wants (but no dairy) and starting dairy the third day (but I still haven't given her milk). You should add the first 24 hours of clear liquids to that schedule - the doctor said we didn't have to go back to the beginning since it had been a few days since DD5 had thrown up, which is why we started with a bland diet.

DD8 recovered much faster - she threw up once and ate pretty normally the next day. I think it is harder the littler you are. Good luck, and don't push food too much!
