Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced stomache flu while at WDW? We were there 2 years ago and my son got so violently ill with a stomach flu I didn't know what to do. I kind of felt sick too but not like him. We are going back at the end of Jan and I guess I was just wondering if this happens often. I had myself convinced at the time that it had to be from all the buffets that we ate so I will not be scheduling any this time.

Sure, I was sick with a stomach virus once. One time out of a 20-30 trips. FWIW, I don't think it's the buffets. You probably just picked up a bug from something that someone else touched when they were sick. Don't worry, carry some Purel and have a good time!

There was one time we went to WDW and I got pretty sick...almost violently. I know it was food poisoning. I know it was from Chef Mickey's chicken because I was the only one to eat it out of our family of 7. Just a few hours within eating I was sick at Magic Kingdom, all the evening and could not eat for 2 days.

I did call and leave a message at Chef Mickeys because they said they could not put me through to actually speak to anyone.

I am sure they get all sorts of claims about this & that, but I truly was sick and had to put on a smile and keep going (slowly) with the rest of the family.

I hope no one else ever experiences what I went through.

You may want to be pro-active and find out from the Dr. what you can take "just in case".

Last time we were there (Dec 08) my husband got a horrible stomach flu. I thought we were going to have to stay an extra day because he couldn't leave the room, but somehow he managed to pull it together and drive home (we had taken 2 cars). We wasted 2 days worth of dining plan meals

My DD 3 at the time. Barfed all over me at Kona! it was really bad I had no xtra shirt either. But Disney magic happened. As I was cleaning her up and calming her down in the Bathroom some very nice guy offered me the shirt off his back (well his undershirt). He said "I've been there before, I have three kids, I just put this on and your are going to take it! I did... gotta love the magic

We were at WDW for Thanksgiving this year and we all got a stomach bug. Started on Friday with DS5, Saturday DS9, Sunday me and Monday DH. Luckily it lasted less than 24 hours for each of us. When we were packing up to go home on Tuesday DS9 said he did not feel well so it made for an interesting trip home. I think my little one just picked up a bug and passed it around. Unfortunately he got sick all over me (he was spotless) on the bus to AKL for a dinner at Boma. Since we were staying at VWL we took a cab back. For the record, I mentioned to housekeeping and the front desk that we had been ill so that they would do an extra good job santizing the rooms, but I saw a lot of kids getting sick while we were walking the grounds. Sometimes these things happen but you just have to make the best of it.

Just got back and my son was sick for 3 days. At first I thought it was Chef Mickey's , but I guess it was just a bug.

This past Feb our DS9 got sick at DHS, he started out the day feeling good but by mid-morning he had the flu. My DW took him back to our room at POR on the bus while I stayed at the park with DD6 and DD3. He slept the rest of the day away except for trips to the bathroom and the next day he was better and we enjoyed the rest of the trip as if nothing happened. I came back mid afternoon and took over "the watch" while my DW took the girls to the pool for a few hours. We thought it was just a bug he picked up and not from eating anything.

We go to Disney quite often, and got sick 3 years ago. My DD, then then almost 2, picked it up and everyone but my baby and I got it. I've been hesitant ever since when going due to the stomach bug/flu. But, then, my DD, now 5, just got a stomach bug at home 2 weeks ago... so it's everywhere there are people. Just try to wash your hands a lot, especially before eating, and disinfect as you go. I now bring a pedialyte with me in my luggage, as well as some cough medicine, just in case. As well as a few hand sanitizers.

ive never experienced the stomach flu but in January 08, i had a double ear infection and strep throat!

With 4 kids and many trips, occasionally someone does get sick. Ear infection, strep throat, stomach virus.

If my doctor wouldn't call in antibiotics, we just went to the minuteclinic in CVS, much faster than that place close to property.

But now I do wipe eveything down with Lysol wipes. Phone, tv, faucets, doorknobs, remote, surfaces, just to be on the safe side. (Mike Rowe did this once on his show and I felt that it was a pretty smart idea). I feel that it couldn't hurt and might just prevent something. I do this at any hotel that we stay at.

We were there jan 09 and the stomach flu made the rounds with us. 10 of us and an infant. Baby got it 1st, she ended up in the er at celebration hospital. Only 2 of us did not get sick. I wiped everything down with antibacterial wipes and washed my hands often followed by hand sanitizer. they all laughed at me for using both, but they got sick and I didnt.

Nov 2008 Dh knocked a man down while running for a bathroom in Epcot. While he was doing that dd and I were trying not to barf in Ellen's Energy ride. We all came down with a bug and got back to the AKL as fast as possible. 1 bathroom was a very bad thing! DD thought that was the best day ever... we ordered room service and she got hot chocolate.

During our trip in December 08, we all came down with a stomah bug. Not a pretty site! It took each of us a good 48 hours to feel somewhat normal.

Please dont start a panic thread - But I am here now- arrived on the 24th in a Suite at All Star Music and my son came down with a stomach flu yesterday - literally in Fantasyland- we had to leave and have spent the day in the room - he is sleeping now- My husband and five year old are at Hoop Dee Doo as I write this as I did not want this to be total loss- Anyways I write this because housekeeping told me they have had a few rooms with this. I was good about wiping down phone, tv remote and kitchen too- who knows he could have got it on the plane but considering the $$ I am spending to watch Stacey's top ten must dos in the room I really encourage you wipe down everything that your kids touch from your house until you get home- I would hate for this to happen to anyone else my poor son who is ADHD and has tons of energy only left the bed for 30minutes today so the Mousekeeper could change them- poor thing! I am investing in Lysol and Purrel after this!

now starting to panic- second son is on his way home from Hoop Dee Doo as he got sick in the first 10 minutes there! yikes- Two down- this vacation is a loss at this point! I am sad!

I got sick last Nov (08) at while at BCV. I thought I had food poisioning from ESPN but quickly learned it was a stomach bug. I was in bed for two days, and really did not feel good the last 2 days of my trip. Luckily no one else got it and they were able to keep going with DH.
We are going in Jan and I am already nervous about flying with all the germs. We just got the kids the 2nd H1N1 today. I am crazy about the germs, I wipe everything!!!!! To the PP, hope your boys feel better

Thanks - we are hoping for the best and was just able to get Hoop Dee Doo for our last night which by then I hope everyone will be feeling up to it! Happy New Year!

DS got sick in Disneyland on one trip. At the time I thought it was the water. Not that I am saying there was anything wrong with the water. Our stomaches were not used to it. Now I think perhaps he picked it up in the park or perhaps a form of travellers diarrhea. I buy bottled water now to be on the safe side and lots of purell. It certainly wasnt the holiday I had planned. DH and I spent three days in the motel room with him. I know how disappointed you must be feeling.

Unfortunately in these situations where people have paid so much money for a trip to either WDW or DL they don't always follow best practice in keeping away from others until they are better and it spreads so quickly.

I hope the kids pick up quickly and you can resume your holiday.
