Shuttles??Avis Parking???

Ok, all my fellow 12/7 cruisers, I am obsessing here on the final details and realized I am not sure of a couple of things:
1). Which shuttle is better to take to port: the Avis shuttle or the Radisson?

2). When we get to the Radisson (where we are staying), we aren't turning in the Avis car until the next morning, so where do we park it? Do we park in their area...or just park normal in the Radisson area? that is, asssuming that Avis has marked parking.

Ok, first question..in regard to the shuttle, ususally what happens is whatever shuttle happens to be out front at the time you get on....they are pretty interchangeable. Several times we have had the Avis guy tell us to hop in his van instead of waiting for the next Radisson shuttle.

Next questions...when you pull in to the Rad, just park anywhere....we usually park in the Radisson section because it is easier to unload the car. We usually drop our luggage at the Port ourselves and then come back and turn in the car (Avis usually has you park it out front when you turn it in) and hop the shuttle back to the port.

Avis has cars parked in designated spaces right out front. Look for one of those spots before you park somewhere else. Both the Avis van and the Radisson van are 15-passenger vans. I'd take the Avis van, if possible, since I was patronizing Avis and not the Radisson.

I agree with mmouse, especially since that is what we do. We choose to park near the room so that when we go down to get those last minute/forgotten sunscreen, it is easy to get to the car. Also that makes it easier to get breakfast the next day.

Thanks all! And Dave, we are staying at the Radisson, so are patronizing both...thus the question!
So let me get this straight...we can drop our luggage off at the port with the porters...then head back to the Radisson and turn in the car? Sounds good to me.

Yes. That's the easiest way to do it.

FYI, on our 11/23 cruise we really had to argue with the gate guard to get him to let us through to drop our luggage. Perhaps it had something to do with the virus; an extra safety precaution perhaps? Or maybe we just got the wrong guy.

I have dealt with the "wrong guy" at the Port a few times. Some of those guards need Disney training!!!! I have reported one to DCL once...he was so mean and nasty!!! DCL said they are port authority hired and they can't do anything. Oh well, better luck next time.

We also plan on dropping our luggage off then returning the car to Avis. I certainly don't want to get in any beefs with security. We had planned on dropping myself and DD off at the port with the luggage then my DH will return the car and catch the shuttle back.

Has anyone ever done it this way? I am wondering if it is a problem to just drop off some of your party. I have never cruised DCL before so I don't even know what the set up is.

Yes, you can drop off all of your luggage and all members of your party except for the driver. Just make sure the driver has a photo I.D. so (s)he can reenter the terminal grounds upon return.

magiroux....yes, it is done quite often and "legal"...I think sometimes some of the guards just get up on the wrong side of the bed. Secruity measures are always being updated and I guess they get tons of questions and non-ticketed people wanting to come to the terminal that they get frustrated!!!

It is not the norm..ususally everyone is very nice!
