we fly into SNA. In the past we've taken a taxi. Also a super shuttle. Do you prefer a different shuttle service?

We are interested in this, as well, with our first visit coming in May! What is a super shuttle? We are WDW vets and like the Magical Express, lol, so easy!

Also, curious, can you you tell me smartlabelprint, how much was a taxi from SNA to Disneyland? We'll have two adults, and be going to the Tropicana, directly across from the DL park. And, about how long was the drive compared to the shuttle? Was it hard to grab a taxi there?

It's easy to get a taxi. I think there's a set rate $55 for taxi.

Looking at prime time shuttle as well.

Thank you, smartlabelprint! Hmm, then you tip on top of that? How much is proper for tipping? And how does that compare to shuttle prices? Would you mind saying which you prefer, taxi or shuttle and why? TY!

Taxi is easier. Shuttle can be cheaper. Depends on the# of people.

Thanks, smartlabelprint! Well, there will be two adults, so maybe with one fee of $55, that will be cheaper than shuttle, or equal to, if the tipping isn't too expensive. (Not sure about taxi tipping). That's great if it's easier, I like easy! But, interested to hear more shuttle info.

Curious about what everyone else thinks. DD and I will be there in late Feb. We usually rent a car but DH is not coming on this very short trip so shuttle it is. From another thread I found the airport shuttle association, which is $10 each way. http://www.snashuttle.com/

For all 5 of us prime time was $31 on the shared van. I just don't know how good they are. Super shuttle seemed bad our past few trips.

Super Shuttle, my round trip for 2 passengers is $47.52 including gratuity. I found a 10% coupon code on one of the sites mentioned on this forum, I'm not sure which thread I saw it on. I have used Super Shuttle twice before with no problems, and I always fly into SNA.

We usually always take Super Shuttle from SNA to our hotel. 90% of the time, we never have problems with the roundtrip Super Shuttle service. The only time we took different transportation was when the Super Shuttle counter would have been closed upon our arrival to SNA (we got in at around 10 p.m., I believe) so we took a taxi. That taxi drive was a little scary! I'm pretty sure we made it to our hotel within 10 minutes of leaving the airport - that's how fast our driver was going! Eeeek!! :scared:

We've always used a taxi. It goes when you need it and it goes directly to your hotel.

I prefer Karmel.

I know of no way to get a set rate *from* the airport. If you can get one from your hotel, there are vouchers for going back to the airport, and to SNA it's $35. We got one from the PPH info desk. If you let the meter run it's going to be well over $40, though.

Oh...I wouldn't. A few years back on a trip where I met a couple Disboard people, we got a decent shuttle by going to the random shuttle area. But when coming in a few weeks back and using that same area, we got a rattletrap falling apart van (it was night and we didn't really see the problems until as we were getting onboard) with a nonexistent website painted all over it (supersaveshuttle). The driver was yawning the whole drive, as he drove (DH was sitting in the passenger seat and saw) 90 mph on the freeways and on the flyovers. It. Was. Terrifying.

No one was telling people that it was cash only. So at the second stop we had to wait for the people to get cash from their hotel checkin desk. Oh, and it was $11 per person. Plus tip. Except we did NOT tip this guy and I'm fairly sure DH told him exactly why after we had all our bags, though I don't know as I had rushed into the lobby to just get as far away from that van as possible.

We got to our hotel very very quickly. It was incredibly terrifying. I won't do it again. It'll be Karmel Shuttle or a taxi.

What about Uber? I would check into that.

ETA: I'm getting an estimate of $16-21

Avoid the fixed rate for a taxi or having the hotel arrange and pay for one because they often mark it up and make a profit. Either way you will likely pay more than a standard ride.
We always take a cab from SNA and the last trip in Nov. was $40 and we have never paid more than $44. Price is regardless of number of people or luggage.

Love Uber, it is all we use now.

So, that price is for both passengers, correct? We have two adult women, myself and DD25. Is it pretty safe? Are they allowed to pick up at the SNA airport where you get the taxi's? How do you know when your Uber is there for you? The price seems good but I'm a bit nervous about using it.

The price you are noting is more along the lines of what I was expecting for a taxi. How do you avoid the fixed rate for the taxi and get a standard ride? And how do you get one then from the hotel? We are going back to SNA, but considering a possible switch to LAX for return trip. Do they go that far as well? Are they a lot more expensive to go there?

Our Uber experiences have always been safe. Nice drivers, clean cars, safe driving. Once you request a car, we usually get a call to find out exactly where were are (pillar number). The Uber app will tell you what car is coming, so you just look for their car.

That price is for everyone, you pay for the car, not by person. The most we have paid is $25, and that is for the car, not by person. We usually arrive in 15-20 minutes.

I convinced my husband to at least try it to our hotel, with the caveat that we would take a shuttle back to the airport if he was not happy. Now, it is all he wants to use. :)

To get the standard fare from the hotel, just call the cab Co. yourself and schedule a pick up.
I have never taken a cab from LAX but it will be farther so more expensive.

We have used the John Wayne Airport Shuttle Association on both of our previous trips. The first time it was because Super Shuttle stops running at 10pm and we were flying in just after that. We had a very positive experience with them (it was a Shuttle Association van, not just some random shuttle company under the Shuttle Association umbrella), very professional, good driver and they were early picking us up for the return to the airport. For our trip last month, I checked Super Shuttle vs. JWASA and, although I found a lot of discounts for Super Shuttle, the $10pp w/o any discount for JWASA was still less expensive. Both from the airport and back again, three of us had an entire shuttle to ourselves and the driver was early to pick us up for the return again. When they dropped us off at our hotel, they said to call 24 hours before to schedule our pick-up to return to the airport but they actually called me before I got around to calling them. I recommend JWASA but I also suggest making a reservation through the website. They don't ask for payment up front and I think they suggest a 20% tip.
