On Nov 1 we took a taxi from SNA to the Tropicana on Harbor Blvd: $43 plus tip.
Today we used Lyft to go back to SNA:
$20.20 (after tip, $26.)
Taxi's are great from SNA, they are quick, and easy to find.
In the past we had not the same luck returning to the airport via taxi. Issues included a VERY long wait, too small of a vehicle sent to the hotel, driver 'accidentally' using a longer route.
Our Lyft driver showed up in 4 minutes and has us to the airport within 20 minutes.
