Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Cortrans for RT shuttle from MCO to Port Canaveral? Tripadvisor ratings look good. We have to fly into MCO, and I've only ever used DCL transportation to/from PC but am considering saving a few bucks by going with another service. I don't want to pay more for a private ride or deal with a rental car.

Also, probably a dumb question, but when you don't take the DCL bus to PC, what do you do with your luggage - do you take it to PC yourself and check it in there or check it in with DCL at the airport before you go to your prearranged transportation? Do you need to do anything to checkin at the DCL desk at the airport, or just head straight to PC to checkin? THANKS!

I haven't had any experience with shuttles from MCO outside of the DCL transfers, but I can tell you that if you don't take the DCL transfers, you will have to take your luggage with you to the port and check it with a porter there at the port.

Maggie's Mom, I agree. If you are not taking the DCL buses, you do not get the privilege of them taking your luggage. You have to schlep it yourself and check it in w/ the porters at the cruise terminal.

That is one of the perks for taking the DCL bus. A nice bus ride plus them handling your luggage.

I thought that if you are coming from a Disney resort you can arrange for them to take your luggage even if you are not taking dcl transfers?

I have read about this service on another thread, but so far I have seen only 1 person with report of actual experience. Plus, I can't find any published info about the service online. Thus, I am beginning to wonder if I should try the service since I fear to find out on the morning of going to the port how I can squeeze a family of 5 plus luggage (at least 4) and carry-ons into a rental car (I would rent a minivan if I know I will need to take our luggage with us).

This is the crux of the problem.....don't take and pay for DCL transfers.....schlep the luggage yourself in a rental car that will fit it all. That is why DCL is very appealing to many people. We usually do rent the minivan (even for less than 5 people) just to accommodate luggage.

I also could never find published info on paying for luggage transfer with taking the DCL bus. Not sure who you would call to find out. I guess DCL

Disney knows what people want...luggage service :)
But I don’t think it’s that hard. Carry your bags down to the front of the hotel or out the door of the airport. Car service person puts all your bags in car.
Arrive at Port... Porters take all your bags from car (tip a few $$) bags arrive in your cabin.

Wouldn't hurt to call DCL directly and ask them if they offer the service, and how much it costs. I would feel confident that if I booked something directly with Disney (and paid for it in advance) they would provide it.

And if you do call, please report back!

I agree, for us the luggage issue is not a big deal. It'll just be two of us, and we'll likely have one suitcase and two small carryons between us for a 3 night cruise. We've always used DCL transport because I love the video and the whole experience (especially on the way to Port), but if I can save money this time I'm fine with handling my own luggage. ;)

Still wondering if anyone has experience with Cortrans to/from MCO and PC?

I have used Cortrans twice now and have them booked again in May. I have always received excellent service, especially for the price! They pick up at MCO or area hotels. Just bring your luggage with you and they will load it in the back. When you arrive at DCL, the bus driver will hand the luggage over to the porters who will get it on the ship for you. For return service, you just have to call the Cortrans number when you're through customs and the bus will show up. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for them to show up to take us back to the airport. Very easy, convenient and cost effective for my family.

Super helpful info. Thanks so much, crichardson11. TripAdvisor ratings are very good, but I always prefer hearing from folks here who have experienced the service specifically related to DCL use.

The first time we used them we were the only ones on the bus. Last time the bus was 3/4 full. I was a little nervous that word had gotten out and they were going to be busy this time around. Looks like they're still a hidden gem as I rarely see Cortrans listed as an option on shuttle threads.
