We plan on staying at a hotel near Disneyland but perhaps not close enough to walk. Would you recommend taking a shuttle or paying to park. I think it would be basically the same price for our family so we are wondering which is quickest and most convenient.

Do you have hotel reservations yet? When are you going?

You might want to reconsider staying close by, in walking distance. Hydroguy makes some good points in his tip compilation: "Hidden losses when using a car at DLR http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1381580 and Hydroguy's Hotel Rule: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

It's really pretty cool to stay close by and not drive... that way you can get out of the park during the middle of the day when it's hot and mobbed, walk back to the hotel, and swim or rest a bit before coming back at night to beat the crowds, and use your fastpasses you collected. :thumbsup2

If the hotel has a dedicated shuttle, that would be better. Driving takes a long time by the time you fight traffic, park, walk to the tram, etc.

Hope that helps! :)

That is a hard one to choose. Last Monday (Memorial Day), I got to DL at 9am, and it took an hour for me to get into the parks. The line to get into the parking structure was long, and it took three trams before I could get on one - and that is me going by myself & getting on the first single seat available.

With the shuttles you run the risk that they might be full and you would have to wait for one that had room for you.

Good luck. :)

i never have done either at dl but have seen the trams going to the parking area fully and ever shuttle bus full. but once you do get to your car you now have to get out onto the road and to the hotel. and frankly after a long day the last thing i wanna do is fight traffic or fight for a seat on a shuttle. if it was me i'd book a hotel with in walking distance and to me thats from the hojo to the ramada all about 5-10 minutes of walking.
