Shuttle launch vs. rocket launch

We've been planning to see a shuttle launch but every time we pick one it gets cancelled. There will be a rocket launch around Thanksgiving week. Are they as neat as seeing a shuttle? What are rocket launches like? Anyone been?

Living in Orlando I have seen shuttle and rocket launches. A rocket launch view is pretty much the same as the shuttle except for the size of the object in the sky. You can see the contrail from rockets and shuttles from anywhere in the Orlando area. Night time shuttle launches are spectacular if it's clear! The whole sky turns orange just before the shuttle comes into view and then it's a brilliant fiery light show for a few minutes as the shuttle hurtles toward space.

We can see the launches from our house and saw a rocket launch just a few weeks ago. Like Metro West said, the rockets are a little smaller, but still fun to watch.
